If I remember correctly and if what Parokki said back then is true, then the "Rick Rolling" originated when the first GTA4 trailer was supposed to be shown on the Rockstar website. Once the countdown reached 0, the site crashed and some funny guy posted a link to the Rick Roll video in some forum, pretending it was the trailer everyone wanted to see.
