When you say "fail"; do you mean commercially, critically or both?

Fail as in Bungie goes out of bussiness!

What happens if it turn out to stand in middle ground? As it, it doesn't fail but it isn't also the success everyone was expecting?

I think handies are more halfway to be quite honest.

Though it’s been busy with Killzone: Shadow Fall, Guerrilla Games is working on a new IP for the PlayStation 4. Nothing has been indicated about the game so far but a recent listing by the studio for regular/senior online designers provide some scant new details.

Some of the optional requirements include “Developed micro-transactions and/or nontraditional recurring revenue models” and “Have developed or supported online gaming communities or titles with a large ‘social’ focus”. This could indicate that Guerrilla is going the free to play route with its next title and looking to emulate the current trend of online games like in terms of social interactivity between players.

That last point could easily apply to games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 as well as Destiny, so it’s still wishful thinking as to whether Guerrilla will opt for a completely online experience. The micro-transactions do lend credence to an online free to play component though – stay tuned for E3 as we learn more about what Guerrilla has in store.

I really hope Guerrilla don't go F2P. I was expecting something more.

me too. i doubt they would go F2P though, it seems SOE is doing a lot of F2P games lately and been doing a good job, Sony should just let SOE do the F2P games.

however, this doesnt sound like its necessarily a F2P game. but rather that it has an online compenent, which is good, becuase GG make awesome online portions of their games. Uncharted 3 and GT6 have Microtransactions in them. as long as they dont get in the way, and everything can be unlocked by playing the game normally, i dont mind.

I made a thread about new details and screens from Atelier Shallie

Microtransactions don't bother me until it becomes pay-to-win and the best players are usually the ones that spent the most money. If they can incorporate without fucking up the game then I don't really care. And yeah I hope you're right that it isn't F2P. With H1Z1 coming, it makes no sense for them to make on as well.

240p ( :( ) video of H-Hour aka. SOCOM 5.

Looks rough, but certainly looks like SOCOM!

Also, SOE are introducing a premium membership package across all of their titles:

https://forums.station.sony.com/soe/index.php?threads/the-revised-soe-all-access-program-faq.11500063040/

Presumably covers the PS4 versions of Planetside 2; Everquest Next and H1Z1 as well.
