Forums - Nintendo Discussion - EGM mocks Endless Ocean - instead of reviewing it

see the problem with many hardcore gaming journalists, as well as hardcore gamers themselves, is that they have a single defined idea in their head about what makes a game and what doesn't, and they are stubbornly bound to these narrow minded views. They don't realize that what may not be a game to them may be to others and that the concept of games are always changing and evolving.

I read that "review" in EGM and became completely indifferent to the game. After reading this thread, however; I'm interested in picking a copy up for myself. Sounds like a good way to relax while waiting for brawl to come out.

Maybe it's just me, but this game reminds me of Animal Crossing, except you spend your time collecting pictures of fish instead of collecting tons of crap for your house.

Damn you, Activision! Damn you for killing gaming!

Whatever bod said.

even though I read all his posts, as they are too long, his opinion on the game says it all. Great game. EGM is absolutely pathetic for not rating it.

The writers at EGM are obviously upset that their medium is dying. Nobody wants to read their magazine to find out gaming news months after it happens. Endless Ocean is going to be fricking awesome.

 Time for a remake?

here's another review if anyone interested. score=4.9

This one mention the graphics

The first thing that strikes you about Endless Ocean is the presentation. It’s awful right from the word go, from the front-end menus to sound effects. Take, for example, the graphics. They are terrible, even for the graphically anaemic Wii. Animations are stiff and wooden, textures are bland and lack detail, and aliasing is ludicrously salient.

If anyone is interesting in diving into a very relaxing slow pace game (PC) then I would recommend Silent hunter 4 and if you have a old PC then SH3. I can even read a book while playin.

EGM can review (or not review) any game they want. EGM is part of 1up, 1up gave it an 8.0, so there's your review if you need one so badly.

It's Curious to see people who view EGM so unfavourably (Nintendo fans) suddenly so interested in a review from them...

Also I don't see any mockery in this writeup, there might be a funny tone but where does it actually mock Endless Ocean? Does he say it's crap or anything like that? no.

This is just Wii fans pissed off that something they like is being called a non-game (which is debatable).

Continue with the witch hunt on game covering media, but if you are so highly offended by EGM/1up, why not avoid them entirely instead throwing a fit every once in a while?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

So they react by alienating more people? Yeah that makes PERFECT sense. Ever considered that maybe they really don't consider it a game?

First of all, you should probably read the thread before going into one of your "I LUV EEEGM DI FANBOIS!" rants and tantrums, considering that some of the information in the "review" is factually wrong it looks bad when you start clinging to it. And you're not a mod anymore so you better watch what you say or a boot may end up in your mouth while you're rolling on the floor screaming about that imaginary "wii army" out to get you and everyone you love.

That said, EGM fully reviewed Endless Ocean's predecessor Everblue 2 for the PS2 without a problem. Here's a question, why is Everblue 2 okay but the Wii follow up part of this evil "non-games" cult that are absolutely refused to be reviewed? Same developers, same premise...so where did Endless Ocean go wrong? This is the third time they've made this game, I cannot for the life of my come up wit ha logical explanation about how this is "non-game" not worth reviewing but the PS2 game is.
