What is Notch actually working on, if anything? The way I see it he's using the Mojang brand to sell games developed by other people, including Minecraft right now.

Notch is now working 0x10c. It's a new Sci Fi type game that he's hoping will catch on like Minecraft has.

As for the original post, Woo! I'm definitely looking forward to a nice set of Redstone updates. They're fun to use and my world has 1200 pieces of it sitting around. I need more reasons to use it all. Minecraft has been a nice little zen garden for me and I never really stop playing for long. Each new update makes it even more worth the money.

That is niche as hell. Notch isn't stupid enough to believe it will sell.

The very fact that it's Notch creating it will be enough to get those interested in Minecraft to take a look. Niche as it might be, you could say the same about Minecraft. It'll make money, either way, and it'll probably sell decently well, though I'd doubt it would come close to Minecraft numbers.

I hate all the fancy servers with spawns that are over-decorated and everything.

He has said he doesn't care, he has enough money to work on whatever he wants and it sell  0 copies and he would be fine. Hell he could retire now and be set.
