could somebody explain to me why the download speeds are so slow?

I think it's location based, my downloads are usually at the right speeds on that slow ass USB ethernet thing, pretty sure the Wii U caps it out most of the time actually but it's stable.

Question, superchunk, where do you live?

so its the network then? depending on where your position is and how far from there servers?

I'd think so since that's how it is with Steam, XBL, and PSN as well, I don't see why Nintendo would be different.

NSMBU was only 2 gb. Which pissed me off even more about the download time. Kens rage 2 at 12 gb took 3 hrs. But i am not kidding when i tell you that NSMBU took longer to download.

They want to protect kids from fast downloads.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Slow ass? Unless you have a 200M/bit+ internet connection, which I rarely doubt even then you would still be downloading games at possibly 40 M/Bps+ with the ethernet thing. 40MBps was just a comparison as that's what most USB 2.0 HDDs achieve. I mean I consider my 20Mbps or 2.4MBps internet good. And using the adapter will probably result in a more stable connection than Wifi unless your Wii-U is touching the router.

I'm going to test it real quick on speedtest and see if it's actually 100Base-T in a bit, I was alwasy under the impression that it's 10 which would be like 1.25MB capped out and frawn face slow but the ping is better for playing games, will update later, if speedtest runs lol.

Right, I wasn't thinking about that type of cap. You're right. Theoretically if it's a base 10 then yeah it will be capped at 1.25. And if you're lucky and its a base 100 you've got a 12MBps cap. I owe myself a facepalm. Thanks for pointing that out.

so are u gonna buy more games online with wiiU

Part of the reason why I buy all my games in hard copy form - except for the online exclusives of course. That won't change when I get a Wii U.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

From experience, this is how downloading and installing goes on the consoles' of the 3 big players:

Microsoft>Sony>Nintendo

As much as MS may annoy me with XBLG charges or whatever, they have some blindingly fast download speeds. Whenever I'm downloading on the 360, it takes advantage of the full 30 Mbps speed I get to download. Sony is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes they seem to be downloading at 30 Mbps, other times it is somewhat slower. Nintendo's online is just..oh the horrible memories I have had with it.

If he was smart then he would buy some smaller indie games even if he is turned off with retail Wii U download process.

Online gaming hasn't been an issue either.

As I mentioned, its only been when downloading content.
