Forums - Gaming Discussion - MS is not worried about PS4. The Fans will Drive Xbox’s Next-Gen

of course Microsft don't have to worry. They have USA.

So did Nintendo at one point, so did Sony...both lost it to new competitors.

Look at how Sony lost so much markeshare from PS2 to PS3. They dominated this industry for 2 genertations and it took was a bad PS3 launch to screw it up. The lesson is that Microsoft isn't safe. They will make mistakes, the question is how big?

Let's not forget that due to the RROD, they probably only have about 60% of there shipped consoles actually still working. I have owned 3 over the years and will not make that mistake again...

Don't forget that due to YLOD the PS3 has about 20% of its shipped consoles actually still working.

What?

YLOD was never that huge of a problem as RROD was. The older 360's used to fail so much that even local repair shops started banning the 360s for repair lol. My local repair shop was one of them.

ms has lost so much momentum the last 3 years.their on the cusp of finishing 3rd(last) this generation after finishing 2nd last generation.. the reason for their big boost early on this gen was because they got a year head start and sony was priced at $600,but that huge advantage is gone now.. and by the time ms has their conference, theres gonna be a huge been there/done that feel to it,thanks to sony showing what they got first.

I can say that it doesn't matter who had the most failure. I have had two 360 where only one RROD while I have had 2 PS3 where one had YLOD. My 360 was fixed for free until I upgraded it to a slim. My PS3 is still broke and I replaced it with another one.

There was a study with the UK that showed that the PS3 was experiencing about the same failure rate as the 360. This article was done on eurogamer if I remember.

As for the PS3 catching the 360 you do have to remember that the PS3 is in more markets not to mention Japan alone which accounts for the majority of that catch up.

It's surprising how poorly the 360 has done in Japan, despite MS' initial strong investment trying to crack that market. It's also surprising how well the 360 has held up in sales despite being virtually non-existent in the Japanese market.

I'm sure that's what Sony thought with the PS3.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I don't know if that's quite the same, Sony's attitude was fans will pay anything for the PS3, competitors are irrelevant. MS seems to be building to a price which signifies they're aware of their competitors.

America is the battleground for the biggest war of any gen. Nintendo may have sold over 110m in an aligned launch.

Regardless of what we think of him, he didn't write the article.

Not at all. Especially since MS repairs them for free. Idk why people think this adds to the shipped total.

Providing they broke within 3 years, like I said i have had 3, so you can take 2 off of the total for starters...

Not to mention it took them along time to admit they had fucked up!

At least they did admit it. Sony still hasn't copped to the PS2 DRE issues and only offered to free* repairs the consoles after settling a class action lawsuit.

*You still had to pay shipping.
