I see both the PS4 and Nextbox stumbling out of the gate. Highly priced powerful consoles aren't going to sell when there are next to no exclusive games for them. If you paid attention a few days ago, you will have noticed that third parties will make multiplatform games for seventh and eighth generation consoles, meaning there will be almost no incentive to buy PS4s and Nextboxes during their first year on the market.

Meanwhile, the Wii U is going to look more attractive come November. It will cost less and offer more exclusive software. However, third party support might once again not arrive and the Wii U beating the PS4 and Nextbox for a year or two will easily be offset by longer tails for these consoles due to superior third party support.

From what I know of all consoles so far, I don't see any real winner, because they are all taking a dangerous direction. High costs coupled with slow sales are a dangerous combination for profitability.

On a final note, I'd like to call myself pretty amazing. Here's your thread for handheld predictions:

Did you have to bring that thread up? I'm probably the only person in the world who (slightly) overestimated the 3DS to PSV sales ratio. And I actually wrote an s after the apostrophe in "goodness'".

Also, it reminds me how nice I am to Sony fans for not stuffing Vita's failure in their arrogant faces more.

My words came out of your hand. Only caveat is that the nextbox might become popular with the casuals towards the end of its life cycle when its a lot cheaper. But Sony can always add stuff in like move pro or whatever. Overall though I think they'll just be more profitable because theyy seem to have learned from their mistakes.

I'm sure a lot of Nintendo fans have let off, recently, probably due to the Wii U's "success."

@ Rol

Uh no, people knew all about the economy in 2007.  I mean it just happened to be the biggest focus of all the political talk in '07 and in '08, largely because of the election.  The news went on and on about it, as well.  Most importantly, real people started feeling its effects first hand.  Also, your statement doesn't really negate the fact that 360 sold less in '06, even with the better economies.

I dissagree. It will be
1. Nextbox
2. Wii U
3. PS4

The majority does not agree with you.

1. PS4

3. Wii U

I think PS4 will win, but I don't think the sales gap between it and neXbox will be as huge as some of you Sony fanboys seem to think. Sony will once again prevail in Europe and Japan, but I just can't see them taking back North America from Microsoft.

who cares im buying a ps4 as long as its supported im good

I still can't visualized how the next xbox is going to be # 1 next generation. Is NA and UK enough to get them there?

pricing and release date (the 2 biggest advantages a console can have) went entirely in their favor this gen plus the cell plus PS3 launching against Wii plus Sony not having any system sellers till MGS4 yet they still will end up 3rd.  yeah I don't get it either.
