The ideal Zelda would have Link to the Past's difficulty and degree of linearity (where the game shunts you in an obvious direction, but going out of order is fully possible), Skyward Sword's combat, dungeon design, and area design, Majora's Mask's depth of sidequests, and Wind Waker's depth of overworld
Twilight Princess succeeded in scope and in characterization, though many Zeldas have also been successful on those fronts (Skyward Sword lost points on scope due to drastically empty overworld, but had excellent characters).
