PC is best for being an all-purpose machine and that's about it.

Which is, ironically, what consoles are aiming to become.

Not really no. Console are aiming to become multimedia entertainment hubs. A PC is much more than a multimedia hub. I don't think we'll ever do visual art work with something like photoshop, or use programs like office on our consoles, among plrenty of other work related stuff.  Not until the PC and consoles merge into one single entity.

PC's have never had the most games, but the ones they had were often way better.  Sure even PC's have crap - like the SIMs but consoles 12  years ago still had way better games then any console and the same is true today.

Funny enough you said if you want the best in gaming you have to go to a console.. The better and more true statement would be "If you want the broadest choices in gaming you have to buy a console.  Lastly the fact that both the Playstation4 and Next Xbox are both more or less PC's in a console body it will benefit the choice of games for PC's .. This means games on a console or the PC should be ported much quicker and cheaper then ever!  And games ported from Ps4 to NextBox or vice versa will be more uniform in quality as well!

I think he says more like consoles exclusives will be always exclusive... if you want to play almost all games the best choice is a console... you will miss only a few excluives... now if you go to PC then you will miss a lot of games.

My honest feeling is now that the ps4 and Nextbox are both x86 (pc) youll see more exclusives become mutiplatform because itll be easier and cheaper to port.. Plus its very likely more console games will be on PC

It doesn't bother me at all. High-end PCs will always be more advanced than consoles. The people who bring this up all the time are just making themselves look silly by harping on the obvious.

The point of consoles isn't to have a higher upper limit than PC, which is why it's a puzzling thing to obsess over. When I buy a PS4, it won't be because I'm trying to have the best graphics in the world, but because I want a dedicated gaming device in my living room that is quick to power up, easy for even novices to operate, doesn't require complex compatibility steps, and has access to exclusive Playstation content.

Really, as someone who is about 50% PC gamer and 50% console gamer, I don't understand why it's even an issue. I already have three working PCs in my house; what I'm looking for in a console is a different experience from that.

The way I see it, the PS4 is like the new Corvette that was unveiled recently. If people are comparing that to Porches and Mustangs, then that makes sense, but do you honestly see anyone saying, "yeah, but F1 race cars are faster"? No, because it would be stupid. They are different beasts designed to satisfy different needs.

The problem is your wrong.  You cant build a new corvette ( as you put it ) from mid range Chevy Impala parts.. Like it or not the PS4 is using an x86 proccesor.. The same architecture that PC's use.. This means it can run windows.. The Ps4 is also using DDR memory - same kind as Pc... The ps4 is using the exact same hard drive that is found in a laptop pc ... And now the PS4 is using a mid range  radeon gpu found in PC's- which radeons have been a name in the PC market since they came out in 1999... Just because you love Sony and they put out a new console with a PS4 sticker on it doesnt mean its a corvette.. More or less it proves the pc has always been better for gaming.. Why do you think all the xbox's have been more or less PC?  So yeah compared to last gen the new Next xbox and PS4 are corvettes.. But being they are basically PC's they are just average compared to 1000 gaming machines that use more powerful cpu's and more powerful higher end Radeon gpus

I've read your reply three times and I don't even know what your point is--except, perhaps, you struggle with the nebulous nature of analogies?  You ... wanted me to use a different car than a Corvette?  OK?  Just pretend I said a Focus or a Sentra, whatever makes you happy.

More exclusive becoming multiplatform? There's already barely any third party exclusives on the PS3 and 360. I don't think anything will change... -__-

I got used to them long ago.

Am I the only one that thinks the Killzone Shadow Fall demo looks better than any PC game?

Well, of course what looks better is subjective and I haven't played either first hand, but based on these videos (stylistic preference notwithstanding), Crysis 3 certainly has the edge when in comes to performance, IMHO. Compare the battle segments, both at 1080p, and decide for yourself:

You right... only the first-party will continue exclusives.

Then mean what you say - so i wont have to guess what you mean.  If your going to critique someone on analogies when YOU chose to compare a certain console to a corvette when it uses parts found in a much cheaper 'car' then do us a favor and stop posting.. Do more reading.. Go to google and educate yourself .. Research ' ps4 is a pc '... Even better.. read this article from mid 2012 entitled:

PlayStation 4: Why Sony's plan to turn PS4 into a PC makes sense @

 http://www.computerandvideogames.com/345723/features/playstation-4-why-sonys-plan-to-turn-ps4-into-a-pc-makes-sense/

Maybe then you'll get the big picture that people aren't just saying the PS4 is a PC, but that it actually IS A PC..

I have to play Crysis 3 but I agree... there is no PC games running in 1080p better than Killzone Fall showed... of course I excpect the final game have better graphcs but there is time than the final game is worst than the demo.

I'll take your killzone game running at 1366x768 or less and upscaled to 1080P with low-resolution textures, only morphological anti-aliasing, bugger-all anisotropic filtering, no Tessellation and beat it over the head with Crysis 3 at 7680x1440, that's 11x more pixel information hitting your retinas, not including all the extra effects.

That's why PC's leave consoles in the dust.

Okay, I suppose I really am going to have to explain the nature of my analogy for you.  Hard to believe, but anyway, here goes.

You see, the basis for comparison between a Corvette and a $4M race car is that they are both cars.  Both cars.  Still with me?  Because one costs $4M, whether or not the other one costs $100k or $20k is extremely immaterial and I really can't believe you thought it was important.  On the other hand, as I made clear in my initial post, they are both used for different purposes.  Yes, that's right, race cars and street cars have different reasons to exist.  Are you still following?  Is it coming together inside your brain?  Was that a light bulb just now?

So the same, yet with different purposes.  Comparable, yet meaningless to compare.

Honestly, that I'm having to explain this blows my mind, especially that you would reply to me to say I'm wrong then basically repeat back what I was saying.

Holy cats, I mean really, to disagree over the kind of street car used in a simple analogy ...

I used to think the facepalm was something made up by the internet.

PC graphics will always be better than console graphics, thats just logic. but what is somewhat annoying is when haters come up and try to downplay the ps4 for that, when mind you, there console of choice does produce graphics weaker than the PC as well

This is even more strange when their console of choice is the Wii U, which is much weaker than the PS4, let alone a high end gaming PC.  Of course, while they are downplaying the PS4, they are also making Wii U threads talking about how it MAY be more powerful than we think.  Strange indeed.

@ OP

The statement itself isn't really annoying, as it's 100% true IF you have a good gaming rig.  Of course, most PC owners don't, so they are still impressed by the PS4's graphics.  This probably annoys PC gamers as not only do they wish to justify paying $300-$500 for the better graphics cards, but they also wish to bring more people into PC gaming.  But, console gaming just appeals to more people because of its simplicity.  You put a game in your system and you are 100% certain it's going to work. And it's not like the games look God awful.

It really only annoys me when it's brought into every single thread we have where we are comparing 360 vs PS3 (and now, vs Wii U) or a thread where people are praising the graphics of a console game, as it's completely off topic and more like a durr statement.  It also shows a bit of insecurity.
