If this is a non issue, then its funny since I see a ton of Sony fans on damage control, insisting its not a big deal. Well clearly a lot more people seem to disagree.

I happen to agree with it. Seems many fans such as yourself take issue with that. And people will continue to think that regardless of how many fans do damage control.
The conference ended on a down note. To have something tangible shows that you have your act together, thats its not all buzz words and empty promises...sorry if you disagree but both arguments have merit.

I am not doing any damage control and I am not Sony fanboy. I bought my PS3 last holiday and had the Wii and 360 as my primary consoles from the very beginning. I don't care who makes a console, as long as I find it to have value and enjoyment.
But the reason why I make this point is because it makes absolutely no sense to me. I have built PCs and no matter how expensive a chasis I buy for it and how many LEDs I use to light it up, that for the most part doesn't make much of any difference (except for ventilation) on the actual performance of the games that I run on the rig. Its just eye candy. I fail to see what this hypothetical "oomph" that could have been brought from just a casing. Heck Sony could have just put an empty case on a table with the PS4 logo with no parts inside and no one would have known. I guess that would still make people happy.
Whatever. But just because majority has this opinion doesn't mean it is what should be followed. You can have your own.
