Forums - Gaming Discussion - Touchpad vs. Touchscreen? Sony FTW

It seems like the writing is on the wall. Sony has outsmarted and outinvented Nintendo once again. Their new touchpad is obviously far more innovative and useful than Nintendo's dumb touchscreen gamepad. Why would i want a touchscreen to control my inventory, maps, mini-games, etc, and play completely off-tv? When instead i can have a touchpad, which won't display any information, but will enable me to have swipe and touch controls for the (2) games which will inevitably support it. Sony, i praise you and i praise your vision. This is the best invention of theirs since the original Walkman. Touchpad FTW!

Ughhhh...

My god some people just don't quit.

What 2 games were shown or announced to use it?

Honest to God, I cannot tell if you're joking or being serious.

(I hope it's sarcasm.)

completely disagree

the only thing the touch pad has on the touch screen is multitouch...... but other than that, the touchscreen can do what ever the touch pad does, because you know.... its a screen too. you can see shit on it and stuff.

lol I love today.

Give it a damn rest would you people please? Why would I want to look away from the TV to look at the touchscreen? I wouldn't, ever. The only valid use of the gamepad is 2+ player crap or playing the actual game on it and walking away.

Well nothing has been announced yet, but my guess is there will be a casual game where you slide your finger around to control a little blob on the screen, and make it go through an obstacle course. And maybe in action games you can swipe your finger to make the character slide and dodge attacks. The possibilities are virtually endless.
