Kaz doesnt have much to do with the PS devision anymore now that hes the big boss, hes just the watchful guardian of all the seperate divisions to make sure everyone is doing their job.

This came off as more of a North American event (pretty much all western games except for the clips Capcom and Squeenix showed), so that's probably why.

Why would an executive be there? This event had exactly two goals:
1. We have a new machine that can produce great looking games
2. Third party developers love us
Both goals were easily achieved. There are other events incoming where they can show other people/stuff and don't need to repeat the "grunt work" that was shown here.

I think he will be there when the actual console is revealed and also the price "599US$"
