4m right ? They might had expect 8m by now.

yeh i think they where probably thinking 8-10mil right now. They can only get on back on track with Japan so im guessing thats why they got that price cut

Their original forcast was 16mil by March 31, 2013...they'll be lucky to hit 4.5mil....

I think game market is shrinking, there are more casuals and sales of 3DS show that quality doesn't win battles these days since Vita is so much more superior handheld - it's laughable. But to no success.

The only important thing  in a gaming system is games people want to play.

You wrongly associate quality with higher specs.

3DS is powerful enough for a current gaming handheld, an attractive mass market price,  and has great games every month. Thats superiority.

That's not wrong.Higher specs is quality.Yes,there are not enough games but why? For the love of god,Sony can't develop or publish every single game for it,where are other companies, why don't they develop for it? You will say, well because there are only 4 mil Vitas out there. But when you start, you always start from scratch, same will be for PS4 and 720.

Higher specs leads to higher prices, which elads to people not buying, which leads to developers not taking risks. PS3 really only picked up in 3rd party games after slashing its initial price.

DS beating PSP, Wii/360 still having more LTD sales then PS3, PS2 beating Xbox/Gamecube.......the pattern is that weaker systems win.So no, history tell you that higher specs isnt quality.

Hardware is just parts and plastic. Software is what gives hardware life and purpose. Ergo hardware can not be associated with quality as it is useless without the software to enjoy it.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Better graphics does not mean better quality. I just sold my second Vita and will probably sell my original 3DS, but plan to buy a 3DS XL. It's all about the games, and 3DS has the games. I has sold my Vita because I found that I was mainly using it for PSP Minis since there hasn't been much to come out lately.

A little behind?!?  They're going to come out at about 28% of their original forcast (16mil by March 31, 2013).  I would say that is WAY behind....

In time. Brilliance takes some time to recognize at times.

So do you feel the same about the wii u and it's third party situation? Or is that suddenly different since its Nintendo? As far as specs go did they really need to put that much in there? I mean come on all they needed to do was double the ram that 3ds has and use the same chipset. then pump the system out for under 200$ I don't understand why we need these 10 yr cycles. Just release upgraded systems at 150$ with BC every 3-4 years. That way during transition phases games in development will still sell on both new and old systems, thus allowing developers to maximize profits with minimum risk, and at the same time begin to transition to upgraded hardware. I only speak for myself here, but I wouldn't mind a new 3ds upgrade with a die shrink(for faster clock speeds), an extra core or 2, and double the ram. Continue that process every 4 yeas at a cheap entry with full BC the same for vita. I feel the same for home consoles. 2015 give me a 6 core (die shrink faster clock speeds), 4-8 gb ram and a second gpu in my wii u 2, and sell it for 250$.  Sorry for my extended paragraph my pain meds have me sky high ;)

So Captain obvious finally realizes why his product isn't selling? Good to hear!

That research he mentioned highlighted two hurdles Japanese people stumble at when considering a PlayStation Vita: price and games.

Motherfucker is a genius.

SCIENCE!!!

i don't know.. I think he missed the memory card price.. since they ain't lowering that...

Research takes time.

They were waiting to drop the price once PS Vita production costs dropped and once there were some compelling games coming out like Phantasy Star Online 2 and Soul Sacrifice. Timing is everything and just randomly dropping the price would probably  have done more harm than good.
