I said 27k minimum then real sales could be up there quite a bit. Not everyone who reviews actually own the game, unless you have to own the game in order to submit a review. What game is more likely to be reviewed Excitebike or FE? Really I hope it sold 350k+ as I like FE. But their needs to be opposing arguments.

Yes, you do need to have the game to review it.  That's why when games go up on the eShop and the game isn't out yet, you see no reviews (or maybe 1-5).  Then when the game releases, all of the reviews start to come in.

You are beginning to convince me :). Furthermore say renting? Can you review then? Linked to the game or the 3DS? Could be passed around to 20 3DS' or so. If we use this chart to try and get digital SW numbers we need to know this kind of stuff :).

thats why its accurate, you cant pass around Excite bike because its download only!

Two problems I can think of off the top of my head:
1. Excitebike was available for free for about a month after release. This inflates the review count considerably. There is a huge difference between sales and which is downloaded more often.
2. Fire Emblem is also a retail game. A large portion of its reviews would come from those who purchased the retail version.

Both are invalid for the this though, Your 2nd point doesn't matter cuz im not using it guess how much FE sold. As for your 1st point, Even if Exicte bike was free, that even helps out even more with this. FE sold more so this means FE sold over 23k, and even if half the people actually reviewed it, FE sits at around 50k. Hope this helps

There's a bit of a problem with this whole thing though. I suggest you check out this article...

If you estimate how much Excitebike actually sold in the US from these numbers, we have a much clearer picture of its sales in relation to the charts. Your theory can now be much less complicated.

It gives rise to a few new ideas:

1. The charts are actually based off of profit, not sales numbers.
2. Excitebike has maybe sold around 75-100K in America, and has been downloaded at least twice that.
3. Crazy things are happening that cannot be explained.
