I honestly think the WiiU is dead.

How??? Is a car dead cuz it didn't get its engine installed yet? You cant judge, just like vita. Its doing bad now, but it can make ahuge turn around if done right! Dont sell Wii U short, especially since only one major game came out.

So non withstanding Patcher comments, there are actually people on this site that think that WiiU can recover and reach something like 50 million units sold lifetime ?

I don't know honestly. The short term seems to indicate it will reach Gamecube levels; however, regardless of one's personal perception of Nintendo, the Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Super Smash, Zelda and Pokemon franchises are much more popular and have reached a larger audience compared to the Gamecube era. Consequently, I believe Wii U will eclipse 50 million, however not by much.

The market has changed since 2005 and sadly Nintendo is still living like it was in 2005. Nonetheless, I believe Wii U's strongest market will be Japan, much like we are seing with the 3DS. Nintendo foothold is incredibly strong this generation and will most likely be the system of choice for many Japanese publishers. I see the Wii U reaching over 10 million in Japan - bold I know.

Nintendo's weakest market is the U.S. hands down (Nintendo actually sells very well in Canada). I don't see that changing anytime soon. Microsoft erupted into this powerhouse with the Xbox 360. I see Sony and Nintendo both underperforming in the US going forward and Microsoft being the platform of choice.

Hence, they have an uphill battle to climb and will they be successful? I don't know; however, as many have said, never bet against Nintendo.

I used to not like Pachter, then he was on some of Geoff's videos.

I like Michael Pachter. Most people don't like him because sadly they are fanboys. "Oh no Pachter thinks Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft are in trouble. He's such a troll since I love Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft." Heck I remember when he said a few bad things about Vita and my initial reaction was "who the duck does this guy think he is? Vita is a console from God almighty!" Don't succumb to your initial reactions guys.

Pacther makes a valid point about the current market forces Nintendo is facing. Mobile phones and ultra books and tablets are eating up there market share, denying it and calling pacther a troll is silly, he's a paid analyst not a fan boy.

Pachter gets paid a decent coin to provide a clue to current state of things to those without clues but who have money.  He knows industry stuff.  BUT, on the prediction front, he is pretty poor.  If he got paid for his predictions, he would of been let go a long time agon.

As far as market forces go, do people see Microsoft and Sony are more immune than Nintendo is?  Of course, I doubt Pachter could start talking about this, because his prediction would be: Videogame industry is DOOMED, move your money elsewhere, and he would be out of work.

Make this for Wii U:

Problem  over.

That has to be the worst poll ever. Where is the option that he is partially right. I dont agree with what he said about the 3DS being cannibalised by smartphones and all that but I agree that the Wii U could potentially have been a mistake. Of course its early days yet and I AND Pachter can be wrong about this but I dont necessarily think he is a troll as you are all making out.

Pachter's predictions are always wrong, unless they're very obvious. This is great news and means that the Wii U will recover!

That is 100% fact.

But the Wii U has already sold 2.5 million in the first 60 to 75 days.

Even the first 1 month sales where great.

Has anyone seen the greatness of the 3DS first 1 month & first 6 months & first 12 months & first 18 months sales, like I have?

The 3DS was doing great at $250 for crying out loud, and the Wii U has been doing good this whole time too. Just compare the same life spam sales of PS3 or 360 to the Wii U & 3DS, and compare the Vita sales to the 3DS & Wii U for same point in life spam.

I really try not to dislike people in life, but i dont like the guy, he mostly reacts to establish facts and then make a statement, my biggest beef is the fact people and companies probably actually pay attention to him and make financial decisions based on his "advice" truth be told theres probably at least a dozen guys on this site alone that could run circles around the guy.
