When he says nintendo is in trouble he doesn't mean "doomed." When he says "They can recover," he doesn't mean #1 console seller.

No offense to the stupid people on here who respond to headlines because they lack the ability to read a paragraph-- but the reality is that IF nintendo "recovers," it's going to a mild 3rd place recovery. They make a profit but lack anything distinct that garners attention or sales for their console throughout this generation, and eventually just trail in dead last while still making a small profit.

Companies aren't motivated by "3rd place existence," you don't just "exist" in the marketplace. The reason nintendo has been such a joke for so many years is because they "exist." Nobody cares about a company that "exists" and does nothing else.

If you don't understand what Pachter is saying, you should probably stay off the forums lol.

That #schooled couldn't be more misplaced as Nintendo made more of a profit the last 10 years than the gaming divisions of Sony, Microsoft and SEGA combined and possibly ever will. Nintendo may be a joke to you and other self-proclaimed hardcore gamers but Nintendo has basically been the most stable and healthy company the whole time and they are laughing as they sit on huge piles of cash at this very moment.

Is the Wii U in trouble? Definitely. The Wii U was a mistake. But Nintendo can take it. Nintendo could make 3 mistakes and survive on business sense and wits alone.

So non withstanding Patcher comments, there are actually people on this site that think that WiiU can recover and reach something like 50 million units sold lifetime ?

look at PS3, Good system Did terrible in its first 3 months while Wii was killing it! Did it look like PS3 could recover? For most people no, but like i say, you cant judge intill its at full capacity! Anybody with a brain can see Nintendo is doing bad cuz of no software and PS3+X360 have much cheaper price tag/bundles and over a 7 year game library! Michael Pachter is retarded and is only used for comedy and to piss off Nintendo gamers!

Yes, it did. Sony lacked sales in it's biggest territory for it's first 5 months. Ps3 had that bright spot to look forward to. Ontop of that the Ps3 had much more room to work with it's price than the Wii U has right now. $350 isn't that expensive and if people want it they should be able to afford it. A price cut won't help the Wii U as much as it helped the Ps3. Let me point out that even with the Ps3 being $250 more than the Wii U at launch it still never suffered from the low sales the Wii U is suffering from.

With that being said, I don't know what you consider recovering but I don't think the Wii U will pass the n64 sales unless Nintendo acts immediatly.

And if this is going to be a reflection of the videogame industry, than it is sick to the core, and has major issues.  If the buzz is not with Nintendo, and the others have greater marketshare, while bleeding ink dry, the industry is built on a faulty foundation.

But how are WE going to recover from Michael Pachter?

Every month this guy is predicting something the opposite of what he was predicting the month before.

Anyone can do that.

HUH?  You have any frigging idea how much Ms Live makes for Microsoft alone?

Seriously you need to check before you speaking.

Just take it as it will be the opposite of whatever he says
Like how he said the PS3 would never match the success of its competitors

I don't see the big deal. The guy just made a prediction. Is it too early to know if he's right or not? Of course, but he's an analysist. His job doesn't consist solely on reporting what we already know; if that were the case then he would be nothing more than a news reporter who shares the obvious. A large portion of his job includes speculating which in itself means making claims which are impossible to verify at the moment.

Are his predictions shit? Perhaps, but that would just mean he's a bad predictor which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with his character. His predictions could be shit because of Nintendo hatred or they could be the result of horrible prediction skills. We have no way of knowing. But we cannot say he's a troll solely on the basis that he speculates about the unknowable, since that's what his job entails.
