Forums - Nintendo Discussion - EA continues to defecate on Nintendo

I don't really care what EA does with support for Nintendo, but I will say that this "gen 3" and "gen 4" talk from them is driving me fucking insane. It'd be like if I started counting grade school from grade 4, so my idea of "3rd graders" were actually 6th graders. It just doesn't work like that and it's retarded.

its just something they use internally. it states the 3D generations. so PS1 and n64 are gen 1 and so on. its not a big deal

I do wonder what's going on with their sports game announcements this year. Madden went from 5 consoles last year to 2 this year. Appears a weird decision, so maybe there's a later announcement to come...

... or maybe that's just their future focus, seeing as (apparently) Tiger Woods went from 6 consoles to 2 between '12 and '13. The games are both developed at Tiburon, so maybe there's trouble in that studio or something. Or perhaps not.

Outside of Madden, FIFA and BioWare creations (Mass Effect and Dragon Age), what has EA done within the last few years worth noting?

That being said, it is up to Nintendo to make companies such as EA and others regret the decision since they messed up their own launch by not having enough actual original software to move the system.

Battlefield...Dead Space, Crysis, The Sims (yes, I went there), Need for Speed, Burnout etc. etc. Basically, a lot of popular franchises.

Don't forget Mass Effect, SSX, Rockband, Fifa, Mirrors Edge etc

I have no problem giving you Dead Space and The Sims but Need for Speed and Burnout have been around for years and have had better versions in the past then some of the stuff released within the list 4 years. Crysis I don't quite buy as it gets tons of critical hype over its graphics but outside of a few PC gamers I know few console players know or care for it. Kind of like Far Cry before this most recent installment, which seems to have gained more traction in bringing the property to the masses then F.E.A.R 3 did.

There was a thread a couple weeks ago about internet forum users being in the minority when it came to a lot of things regarding the videogame industry and people's overall game buying habits. I loop a nintendo fan hating EA in that group. I'm sure that the majority of people here who have not bought a EA game in X amount of time, or is an EA hater is of no significance to Nintendo's overall userbase, they still makes games and own properties that have universal appeal and not getting their support is damaging.

Makes me proud of my 10+ year EA boycott.

RIP Origin Systems, Westwood Studios, Bullfrog Productions, Maxis, and many more.

Keep boycotting them just because of their feelings with Nintendo. EA has had some of the finest third party titles this gen has had to offer.

Actually, my hate for EA started during the 16 bit era when I only had the Genesis.  They let all their good IPs (Road Rash, Desert Strike, Magic Carpet, General Chaos) to die and mass sequel all the ones I don't care about.  They completely ruined the Command and Conquer series which rivaled Warcraft/Starcraft back in the day.  They pretty much ruin any IP/studio that they buy.

Well until they ruin Bioware theyve got my attention. Theyve also got Crytek, Dice and more so.....

They don't own Crytek, they are private..... They have a publishing contract with them. Big difference.

I love Mass Effect though :)

I'm honestly not interested in anything that EA makes. (Besides FIFA) If you don't count FIFA the last games I bought from them were Need for Speed hot pursuit 2 and nba live 05 for Gamecube. If need be I can always switch back to PES. I own every console so them not supporting Nintendo doesn't really affect me though. :P

I do like PopCap, which EA now owns...

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

It's a business decision nothing more, nothing less.
I guess its not profitable for them to support nintendo.

Looking at the madden sales on nintendo, I would agree with them.

Evidently EA doesn't agree with themselves, because they continued publishing Madden and FIFA on Wii through the 2013 editions, despite it being a dead system by then. And surely made some kind of profit, since FIFA 2013 was literally just a reskin of the previous Wii version, and still sold almost half a million copies.

I would say Wii was an easy port? Or they saw the sales declining trend?

Wii U they need to consider the nintendo's IPAD?

Consider what for it?  To select plays?  Sounds pretty tough.  Sega somehow managed to do it with the Dreamcast VMU.

You a dev?

Actually EA did use the gamepad in FIFA reasonably well (I played the DEMO). Only issue with the game was that it was a rehashed old FIFA game.

So they KNOW how to use it.

It's not "just something they use internally" when they constantly push it in public statements. And it is a big deal, because it is blatantly ignoring older generations of video games. We shouldn't track our generations in multiple forms. When someone says they're in 7th grade, everyone should be able to understand what they're saying. We are not in the 8th generation AND 4th generation at the same time. EA needs to stop muddying our industry with their "generation" ideas.

Those of you complaining about EA or 3rd parties not supporting wii u should have known from the get go, when was the last time Nintendo actually had support the snes am I right so why you guys crying? It's your fault for impulsively buying a console you still know nothing about. You reap what you sow!
