You know you've fucked up as a publisher when both your consumers and your developers are pissed at you.

I'm a bit worried that this will bite the developers in the ass. Some people say that all publicity is good publicity, but Ubisoft may disagree. I could imagine them deciding to let go of Montpellier as soon as they finish porting the game to the PS360, if only because they've proven that they are not under full control. Besides, I doubt the Rayman games are making a huge profit for Ubisoft, so it wouldn't be a catastrophic loss.

This would lead to an... interesting situation. Michel Ancel has been with Ubisoft for, what, over 20 years? If he and his team were fired, you'd be left with the French version of Platinum Games just waiting to be made. Overnight, there'd be a new renowned developer in town, known for their abilities in making platformers that can arguably stand along Nintendo's best. Who knows what effect this would have?

After this stunt, Ubisoft can't release the game now. It's stuck with the announcement it's done, with all the gains and collateral damage, they surely took everything into account when deciding.

A) christ, i think i've been quoted in this thread than my last 5 years on this site combined.

B) you bring up a good point/perspective.  maybe ubi put them up to it.  i just know in my business that talking bad about your management is a one way ticket to unemployment. that might not be the right perspective for this specific case.

The game should see more sales off of this.

But delaying it in a matter of a couple of weeks so it can be released along other versions was very disrespectful towards WiiU owners that were waiting for this game. They could have just released it for the WiiU and release later on other platforms since the WiiU version is already done.

well there are two reasons i can think of that wont make that happen

1- Marketing, why spend money on two marketing campaign's and on two releases? just have one simultaneous release to save money and make better profit. also if they release it now on WiiU there will be less hype and anticipation for it for the ps360 release since its been already released on the wiiu months ago.

2- microsoft apperantly has a rule for releasing games on xbox, that if a game is to be released on xbox it has to be released at the same time as other versions. so ubisoft had to delay the game to meet that rule. (this one is more likely to be the reason, IMO)

Oh, don't get me wrong, you are probably right, I also think the main reason is MS rule. Management aside, what I meant was from the costumers eyes: the game was about to release on a console and bam! Delayed for 7 months so it can be released at same time on other platform. If it was a game I wanted, man I would be really pissed :P

ohh i agree with you to, heck i got a bit upset and i even hate rayman. its just that there is a reason or many reasons behind it. this specially sucks for people who pre-ordered the game, ubisoft should give them something extra for those who pre-orderd it, free DLC or something
