Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you still pay for Xbox Live?

Simple question as the title says.

What will you loyal XBL Subs do when MS barely ups XBL next gen and Sony offers XGC FREE next gen.

In addittion, why pay for XBL when Steam offers a 100x better service for free.

I just want a simple answer.

As soon as some good xbox related news gets posted these threads all come out.... You have nothing better to do? Surely you do.

Yup still pay for it and will continue to do so.

Let me preface this by saying that I have never paid full price for live (always bought it on sale for $40 or less). Plus now we have Bing rewards to give a free month or two every once and awhile ...  The value comes in the form of crossgame voice chat. Just like how some pc gamers pay for ventrilo, 40 bucks a year to be able to talk to my friends without having to get all of us into the same game is a very nice feature. Yes, u could do it with Skype or something, but Xbox makes the process the most seamless. Aside from that, I probably save at least 15-20 dollars a year from the gold discounts they have for certain games at times. So yeah ... that is what makes it worth it to me. If Nintendo or Sony offered the same feature for less I would probably consider switching.

So, did any else see that movie Meltdown?

I doubt XBL won't be trying to add anything going into next gen. But they might keep everything being a pay wall to inflate the value of their pay service from their free service. I wonder what they will differentiate themselves with from the competition.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I buy it for my son as he's a hard up musician but I usually get a 12 month card from ebay or amazon for £20-£25 to avoid paying full price.
