Forums - Nintendo Discussion - ‘Dragon Quest X’ sales below expectations- Since when? I thought it was doing well?

I know I won't be buying this. MMORPG's is not what I want, I just want RPG's period. (There's you reason SE, no one wants your MMO's, just like no one wanted that on FF MMO.)

FFXI made them most cash.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Those sales are excellent for a MMO, for comparison sake Final Fantasy XI sold 120k in its first year

I want MMOs, will pay mucho for a good one. But FFXIV wasn't fun at all. And DQX is a tad too cartoony for me. But if they do bring it here I'd definitely give it a shot.

How can DQX drag them down when by comparison FFXIV was much bigger budget, and flopped so hard they had to offer new XIV for free to previous buyers?

Must be MSN trying to link anything negative to Nintendo first.

It sold nowhere near as well as other FF's. That's what I was referring to.

That's right.  Comparing subscription based MMO to RPG sales is not apples to apples.  FFXI was very profitable and it sold nowhere near the number of the regular numbered franchise.

DQX has a unique system named "Kids' Time" where weekends and evenings are free to play for a couple hours. There is a big problem of not enough buyers actually subscribing because of this, as well as poor player retention rates.

The situation was so dire that Squeenix began giving away copies at certain retailers as a "try before you buy" promotion. These free copies are counted in the total "sold" because they are giving away copies of the full game. Like most MMO trials, an unlock code is needed to access all contents as far as I know.

Nobody wanted a DQ MMO, and now Squeenix is paying the price. I doubt many people are simply waiting for the Wii U version either.

SE made me build a new rig for FFXIV, PS3 for FFX13 I didnt like much and a Versus that never came. I've paid my share for the fond memories of FF7. Hope they stay in business and not triple their budget and try to go for broke with nextgen graphics.

What do you mean since when !? DQX has embarrassing numbers when userbase, and series history is taken into account. DQX is nothing but an atemp to milk DQ in the form of MMO.

See, this is what I was trying to say.

No one wanted this from DQ. SE gave us something for no reason.
