This is the only way gaming can survive, if consoles carry on as they are this next generation WILL be the last. The rumors that pre-owned games will not work are just another nail into the coffin

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

It is a sad truth indeed. I miss the good ol' days. Not the VERY ol' days, but the good ol' N64/Ps1 to my Gamecube/Ps2 days. Such a simpler life... *sigh*....

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

"Ouya to Release a New Console Every Year"

Not only is that confusing to the market, but buyers will be pissed that every year their purchase becomes the less then cutting edge product.

This thing aint gonna fly.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I honestly think Systems as we know them can survive

There will always be a market for higher quality games IMO. Plus, if innovation is pushed hard, sales won't drop much if at all compared to this Gen. Wii U Gamepad & Kinect 2.0 will differentiate systems enough to stay relevant. I'm sure Sony has some type of plan for innovation too😉

You buy a console now and it is already less than cutting edge. The new 720 or PS4 will be less than cutting edge. Plus not being cutting edge or upgrading your machine every year hasn't stopped the mobile market from exploding in sales. This thing will fly especially if your Microsoft's Sony's and N are going the "you can't play your pre owned games route"

Leave PC out of this. As for consoles, the console is cutting edge for 6+ years before its successor comes out. Thats peace of mind. And nobody seriously expects the used game sales crap going through.

Why leave the PC out of this? A console has NEVER had cutting edge technology and if you compare older revisions of consoles to newer revisions then that is just an epic fail. Cutting edge technology doesn't mean you can pick and choose to turn a blind eye to the PC LOL. Consoles are at least 2 or 3 gens behind cutting edge from day one!
