They basically sent the game out to die with their attitude.

yeah pretty much

i think it's a tie between DmC and PSASBR for the most disgraceful death

I don't know. I think FF13 Lightning Returns could beat them to the punch.

FF13-2 sold less than half the copies of FF13, and its not like they tried to chance the name of FF13-3 to Lightning Returns to avoid the stigma of the FF13 brand... oh wait they did.

Not to mention the game is going to feature some awsome dress up action. How can the game fail.

Its not like its rumoured they want to launch FF13 Versus to the PS4 now because the reputation of the FF13 might affect the sales.

But I guess all that is NInja Theory's fault right!

You mean dressing Lightning up like a rummage sale reject, a sexy samaurai, a princess, in fish boots (70's style like a baller, bitch!), in a fish belt, like a clown, and like Serah even though "Our costumes reflect the character's personality in Final Fantasy" ISN'T to your liking?

(Yes, this is meant to be sarcastic)

Don't follow, are you insulting FF13?

Don't care about dressing up games, Final Fantasy was an RPG series now its been reduced to some teen soap opera with automated combat. To add insult to injury the third game will feature one of the worst characters in the series the only playable character. Well at least you can dress her up now, thats all I want from a game with Final Fantasy on the box. Yes thats is meant to be sarcastic.

Either way its not NInja Theory's fault FF13 turned out that way.

Lol. Look forward to your Playboy fanservice. I'll be enjoying games that don't objectify women to generate sales. At least that cup size will compensate for Lightings empty personality.

Don't worry I'll send some death threats to Ninja Theory on your behalf for writing relatable female characters without increasing their cup size.

(Yes, that was mean to tbe sarcastic).

The only thing this game did wrong was being called DMC.
Fans are whores

Gotta say this is as it should be. This reinvention looks very uninspired and looks like a total douche. Old Dante had flair

Damn right

This...

Plyus, lets be honest, after playing it for a couple of hours now, I can say this game is nowhere near AAA quality. NT is no AAA dev, and I have no idea how they managed to survive thus far :-?? This is not what fans wanted, and Capcom now feels the pain.

Yeah sorry, I only ressurected this thread for the benefit of Shrouded Darkness, who actually insulted the female characters of Ninja Theory's games.

Its amusing because Square Enix just said this yesterday:

I find it amazing that someone like Shrouded Darkness or Digital Devil Summoner can attack developers for trying to write belieable female characters, but then praise something like Final Fantasy 13. I just want to see if they will try to justify Sqaure Enix.

There really should be a new thread created for that report from Square Enix alone. I thought someone would make one by now.

About FF13-3 Lightning outfits : my gf is the first one to defend such outfits, so I guess that's ok. I don't think it's sexist or whatever. And I did like lightning character.
Again, about the boobs size and everything, a french podcaster once said "If you're going to look at a butt during a hundred of hours, at least shoul it be sexy"

The question is not about the model or the outfit. It's the attitude of female in games that should change. And yeah, the graphist loves to first model a character nude and texture it completely before they add clothes. And they like to estimate the cup size. Each and every graphist loves to do that. And yeah, woman too.

Square Enix words can be easily misunderstood. But there was nothing sexist in any form I saw in FFXIII. For once there was a useful female caracter with a personnality, and not just a simple inversion.

Never been a fan of the series. Although what I played from it was good.

I got DMC on steam a few weeks ago. Played it. Enjoyed it for what it was. Moved on.

The complaints about the look of Dante was petty. And the game actually tackled that aspect of the character in the end. But it was never an issue to begin with.

In the same genre, I preferred Castlevania Lords of Shadow, but I still had a blast with DMC.

Something I have to note: Mundus's facial animations are incredibly well done.

Have a look at another recent reboot? Tomb Raider (irrespective of how fucked up SE's expectation are) was a very well received product both critically and commercially, it resonated with the fans despite being a reinvention of the character and IP.

There is nothing wrong with reinventing yourself, however the image Ninja Theory portrayed failed at 2 things.

1) Fail to connect and resonate with existing fans
2) Fail to appeal to the wider audience

When you fail to do BOTH your are in trouble, all the early sign was already their that the fans was not happy, so that's 1/2 gone.

The game was a gamble, and one which they lost.

And as for the headline "Devil May Cry fans destroy brand out of spite"? Nothing more than attention grabbing.

Theres over 80 different outfits, depending on the outfit the victory pose will present various provative poses.

Increasing Lighning's cup size, and giving her sexually provactive outfits is not about 'developing her personality'. Its about sexually objectifing women to sell more copies of what looks to be bad game, like its predecessors.

FF games have tended to have this element before FF13, remember FF10-2? Your telling me Rikku's bikkni was about 'reflecting her personality'.

Lightning to me ins't a belieable character. I don't care what Square Enix do to her, because to me FF13 is not worthy of the words Final Fantasy on the box. But I'm sorry, this is not character development. This is sexual objectification.

Yeah, outfit is always about personnality.

Do you think males are represented small, fat and with a moustache ?

More of all, why is that only males have a problem with it ?

She's pretty, that's all.

What's wrong with it ?

Being able to dress how they want to, and put on sexy clothing so they feel prettier without risking being raped has always been part of women's emancipation
