Portuguese either. But everything in North America happened the same mostly. Would life have been better or worse for them? I do not say "them" to be rude. If you are from Mexico on South to Argentina would you have wanted Spain to have never came to you in the what? 1500's.

Historians of vgchartz this is your time to shine!

They would be alive, so the answer is Yes.

You know, the world was once divided in two between Portugal and Spain. True story.

They would be nearly extinct and the land would be completely devastated, with barely any technological, cultural and ethical advancement.

Why is that? The Aztecs for example had technology of their own (math, astronomy, medicine, hydraulic engineering), their own culture (civil, military and religious institutions) and their ethics.

They even had a method of farming known as chinampa that had almost zero impact on the environment (something modern civilization hasn't been able to achieve completely). These were civilizations not just semi-nomad tribes.

Virgin soil epidemic. I like how I make a big post addressing myths dealing with the subject, and people go on posting the myths :(

If the Spanish and portugese never came, then America would have conquered/claimed all of it in the 1800's

Part of me thinks the Aztecs would have kicked the early United State's ass. If they had the chance to have limited interactions with Europeans, giving them just enough exposure to become immune to European diseases by the 1800, the Aztex empire would be all ove Washington's ass with superior numbers and home-turf advantage. That's implying that the U.S. would even go as far down as Mexico back then.

Nah, the U.s would do exactly what they did to native americans. They had the tech and the drive to spread. If Mexico wasn't settled by europeans, then no doubt they would have.

The aztec empire was not the small, disjointed tribes the English found in North America. Only reason the English and later the U.S. managed to take so much land is because they never found united resistance, and when they did, it was rushed federations that fell apart quite easily.

Nah, dude, my hypothetical Aztec empire is much better than a bunch of tribes.

If they never predicted the end of the world, then where did the idea that world was going to end in 2012 actually come from?

From stupid white people who don't understand calendars.

Lol it was never more than a conspiracy then

Was anyone else still a little apprehensive that day? Or just me?

I always though it was bullshit, but even i was a little scared because i weren't so sure if it was bullshit or truth that day, but it ended up being just another day.

The Aztecs would be alive to see that there end of the world prediction was wrong.

Those would be the Mayans, and there are still millions of them here. But since they never seem to be able to convince you people that they never predicted the end of the world, I guess they all might as well be dead.

If they never predicted the end of the world, then where did the idea that world was going to end in 2012 actually come from?

in short: it was just the time when the Mayan calender system run out, it was the end of their calender and some people interpreteted it as the end of the world. That it did happen before and they would just begin a new calendar cycle. Actually the Mayans even predicted things that would happen millions of years from now, so predicting the end of the world before that would have not made much sense anyway.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

One of the biggest genocide in human history. If the Spanish/Portuguese never came, South America would've been much more richer and stronger.

You can't commit a genocide when most people die of natural causes (smallpox) and when there are lots of people in America with "latino" genes. You can't say the same of USA/Canada, but it seems that the Spaniards and the Portuguese are the killers here. A hint, we Spaniards are Caucasian, not "latinos", taking into  consideration that the word latino is used in a wrong way in USA.

Learn some history before spreading bullshit.

So you guys think you never slaughtered native Americans, never stole their riches and brought them back to your country?

No, learn to read. What I'm saying is that it isn't one of the biggest genocide in human history. That's bullshit, plain and clear, but coming from you what I could have expected. Every conqueror does bad things, but it's tiresome to see that when someone thinks of slaughters, people think in Spaniards in America. There have been tons of much bigger slaughters than what Spaniards and Portuguese did, but they aren't remembered every time people talk about conquers. Imagine what would have happened to native Americans if UK/USA would have conquered Mexico, Central and South America. They would have been treated in a much worse way, decimating them, keeping them in reserves and letting them make casinos.

A worse slaughter is what Muslims do in every place they conquer, but is something politically incorrect to say.
