When I got the HDD it was on NTFS then I formatted to FAT32 with allocation unit size of 16k, is that what you're after?

i figure you had to format the hard drive to the system. i'll go get some other PS3 owners.

I actually tried both ways (PC formatting and PS3 formatting) but neither works! Thanks for helping!

Sorry it took a while, was busy with other stuffs and went through a few trial and error on the HDD, but alas finally got it working!!!
What I did was I use Guiformat program Fat32 (which I did before) but allocation unit size (cluster) now to 4096 as oppose to higher number before. then instead of starting PS3 normal I went into boot mode (hidden mode) and select Restore PS3 system and that it! Surprisingly PS3 boot mode did much quicker formatting than normal PS3 start up!!
But weird that my HDD space is 828gb as oppose to 931gb (3gb was used from the 12gb flash:firmware) and what even more weird is that I've downloaded 25gb but the PS3 has 22gb taken, I think this all has to do with the Allocation size unit (cluster), it needs extra space for some HDD configurations.
Still got another 350gb to download O_O freaking crazy PS+ !!
Anyway after doing all this I feel like a PS3 formatting expert!!
