hm.. strange, you seem to have done everything right..

you should try to format that hdd in a different PS3 to see if that shows the same results

When I got the HDD it was on NTFS then I formatted to FAT32 with allocation unit size of 16k, is that what you're after?

i figure you had to format the hard drive to the system. i'll go get some other PS3 owners.

I think this actually changed with a firmware version. Guessing they changed it once the PS3 got hacked.

I remember I had to do this in my phat as my firmware was too new.

Yeah I thought I did the right thing!!

I thought of doing it on my 250gb slim (1st slim) to test it, but I'm worrying that it will stuff up the number of PSN+ accounts, you know 2 account per user.

no if you just put that HDD into the slim to format it that won't do anything to your accounts (and the accounts are bound to your PS3s unque IDs, those are hardcoded into the PS3s chips and not on the hdd)

usually it will just format the thing (meaning everthing thats on the 1TB right now will be wiped) and think its a new PS3 when it's done, just power it off after that and put the real HDD of the slim in and it will be like nothing happend with that PS3
