Forums - Gaming Discussion - MS winning a region=locked down, Sony winning a region=vulnerable

Just a general theme I've seen from people with all this next gen talk.  Why is MS having the US seen as this locked in thing?  You guys remember that up to 05 the US was Sony domination?  Remember after that Wii was the most popular console there?  Remember that Sony gave MS a year's lead and a $200 price advantage this gen?  Remember in Europe it was almost a year and a half and that same 200 euro advantage?  It just seems ridiculous that everyone says Sony has no chance in the US and that Europe will be the battleground that MS will be battling for.  Sony was on the defensive this past gen as they launched late and had to push blu-ray.  This gen they have more studios that have been dormant (presumably making PS4 games) and so it only stands to reason that they will have more games ready this time.  They won't be that much more expensive if at all without a super expensive drive this time (unless they try to make a super expensive controller).  They won't be launching a year later (announcing first most likely).  So why is it a lock for MS to own US and questionable for Sony to hold Europe?

i have been saying this for ages but people like to speak a lot of plop.

I get a 10 day ban for associating PS3 fans with a religion.....and I come back and see your sig with curl-6

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I would agree somewhat. Consumers in general are a lot less brand loyal than fans who come to gaming forums. If one console really takes off, it won't matter what happened in the past.

Still, I'm guessing that the ability to transfer over things like friends lists and accomplishments might have an impact on the decision making process. This will be the first generation where that will be a real factor. With that in mind, I'm still expecting Microsoft to win North America and Sony to win Europe, though one or the other might be a lot closer than previously.

This is how i see it.

Next Gen

North America: Sony 45% Microsoft 55%

Europe: Sony 75% Microsoft 25%

Japan: Sony 99.9% Microsoft 00.1%

WorldWide: Sony 85% Microsoft 15%

Sony domination, AGAIN!!

dude come on that is obviously a complete joke it was from some PS4 hype thread and made in jest.  If you don't see that you're just taking things way too seriously.  You want me to replace it with PS3 murders to make you feel better?

i also read often that microsoft has to win north america because they already lost japan and probably europe for next gen because europe is sony land and japan obviously no microsoft land.

so yeah, i read that all the time for both sides, if you only read that in one direction you probably recognize "negative" or "positive" posts about one company more than about the other. probably because you are a sony gamer (no clue but i would think so when you see it like you do)

it's quite silly

I thought you weren't coming back, I literally posted about it yesterday.  Wb!

It will be interesting to see if America is brand loyal only after one gen. There are so many people pissed off from their fragile hardware. In the next gen, people would surely wait to see if Microsoft made the same hardware again and in the meantime, Sony can grab some attention.
