The game division almost doubled the Operation Incoming... good.

Damn @ that Vita+PSP forecast. Maybe they're not planning a PSV price-cut this year after all...

but they also predict a drop in hardware sales across the board from previous estimates.  the only reason that stays the same is due to the building sale.

thats bad.

The ~$600m is to be posted in Q4... I'm just saying what the news about Q3 are saying... the company go back to operation profit.

It's not bad... even stocks are up after hours (well I don't know what means after hours).

Edit - After Hours: 16.26 +0.44 (2.78%)

Having to sell a 1.1 billion US$ to barely have profits is something you can't do every year. Being an electronics company and losing money in the most profitable quarter of the year tells you the real situation of the company.

After hours are between 4:00pm-8:00pm (when stock market is closed). As a result, the Q3 results are not reflected in the performance of the stock durng the after hours trade. One should expect a delcine tomorrow.

I think people are oversestimating the loss.  I think the street expecting a loss.

The loss is not bad because Sony go back to operation profit... so they stays on track for full-year operating profit.

The latest year are really bad... so this loss is not that bad.

This reply is confusing me... I feel like you don't know the difference between operating income and net income.

Some people tend to forget that Vita+PSP forecast was 14m - 10m was after the first forecast cut and... they cut the forecast every quarter so now it's 7m instead of planned 14m.

Wasn't it 16 millions (10m vita + 6m PSP)?

Guys... it's not me saying the Q3 results is not bad... it's the market... I don't need answer for that because I have no knowledge about that.

- Half a billion op profit
- Game profitable

Compared to last year results... you can't call that bad.

The situation is dire. Furthermore, judging by Nikkei reports that the PS4 will launch at over 400$, thus effectively catering to more 'high-end' consumers, Sony is again in the same situation as the PS3, a money losing business. Expect more losses in the gaming division.

"It would be nice if everyone made hardware predictions. Here's mine:
PS3: 5.4m
PS2: 1.1m
PSV: 3.2m
PSP: 1.1m

They could group PS3+PS2 and PSV+PSP together, then we'll see 6.5m and 4.3m respectively."

Underestimated consoles but overestimated portables.
