Who do you feel will have the better gen 8 console?

Nintendo 43 15.25%

Sony 184 65.25%

Microsoft 44 15.60%

Something else 11 3.90%

Total:282

PS3 had an amazing turn around. It had one of the worst launches ever, too expensive (yet Sony was still losing almost $300 per unit), no games, no ingame xmb, no trophy support, inferior ports...

A PS4 up to speed right out of the gate could well decide the fate of next gen console race.

I think Sony will do pretty well as long as they don't repeat the PS3 launch (which i'm confident they won't). Sony has done a wonderful job of turning around the PS3 this gen and I definitely believe they will keep the momentum going.

Though Microsoft simply has more money to blast advertisements and can afford to take more of a loss by selling the system cheap. Microsoft also has a pretty sturdy grip on the US.

It'll be interesting. Seeing as how closely the sales between the PS3 and 360 are this gen despite the terrible PS3 launch and first couple of years. I think as long as Sony doesn't make those same mistakes it'll be off to a much better start.

The PS4 is gonna disappoint so many gamers on so many levels it's unbelievable. Core gamers don't realize they're a pretty small part of the game-industry and don't deliver Sony profits at all. The Kinect and Move were the first hardware-accessories Sony/Microsoft made profit on. Especially Sony is forced to attract the casual audience who aren't interested in buying another console after the Wii.

I disagree about momentum. Sony has been in the decline for years now. After seeing how Sony flopped with the Vita, and how their brands seem to be evaporating away from electronic stores, I don't think they are capable of dominating anything anymore.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Didn't we go through the same thing last gen? Sony simply doesn't have the mainstream appeal they once had with their increasing costs and complex games. They flaunt their horsepower muscle, but as graphics approach being closer to the "good enough" mark, this becomes less and less significant, especially to the average consumer.

Despite Nintendos fall from grace from the Wii days thanks largely to their stubbornness in going back to Gamecube-style niche games, I still think they will maintain a slim lead for most, if not all of the generation, mostly just by default of releasing first. Sure their sales will be down from the previous gen, but I believe all three companies will see decline.

MS will take a close second thanks to their dominance in America and (I hate to say it but) Kinect. Sony will also be close, but will get third. Sony has been in decline while MS has only gained market share, the price of PS4 will most likely be the most expensive, which will hurt them.

I think Microsoft will dominate because if the rumors of Kinect being integrated with the device are true, then most consumers will see the Xbox as the better value for money (assuming the Xbox and PS4 are priced the same or similarly).

How do you know it will disappoint if we don't even know anything about it?

Also, Core gamers may repersent a small part of MS/ Sony/ Nintendo's concole buyers, but aren't they the one's who buy the most software and pay for Xbox Live and PSN Plus?

No one will dominate. But PS4 could edge the other 2 out slightly. But then Wii U could edge the other 2 out too.

Yeah... no.

There will be no dominating this gen. No one will have half the market all by themselves. It's silly to think we'll see domination like in the PS/PS2 days. Not gonna happen. Certain people need to face this fact and learn to accept it. Domination will come if one console can offer something neither of the competing systems can give.

We can't correctly predict the winner of this gen because we don't know what MS and Sony will offer.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
