Forums - Gaming Discussion - Notch earned $101 million in 2012, Reveals What He Will do with it

This is exactly why I will NEVER be rich. I would be even more generous than this. Notch won the lottery. Most folks like us just don't have the greed to be rich ...

I love minecraft, I play it here and there.. but it wasn't some master brilliant idea.

The genius part was making it fun and accessible and succesfully marketing it and himself to that many people. Ideas are cheap, execution is the real test.

Dwarf Fortress, Infiniminer and even the post-Minecraft things like Terraria and Fortresscraft were not as successful for many deliberate reasons.

I think you and I both know why dwarf fortress isn't as successful.

Notch barely marketed it, if it wasnt for famous let's players or other gaming news shows. It wouldn't of boomed as big as it did.

If I owned a house like that, I would invite as many people who need homes to live there as I could (as long as they were responsible people).  Then I would probably try and find these people a job so they can buy their own stuff and do things like take care of themselves as rent.  Seriously, I would not be able to live in a place like that by myself.

O come on, you say that now because you don't have the money to do it but I bet if you did you wouldn't do this

I would do it.  If I didn't, then I wouldn't really have much to do.  If I surrounded myself with people, it wouldn't feel like a waste of money.
