It looks interesting, and that Nexus 7 demo shows its HW can offer more than decent graphics, surely better than 6th gen consoles once devs arrive to use a good part of its potential. But the most interesting part is the dev environment, great freedom and low launch price could make it succeed where 3DO, with lower royalties and greater freedom than competing consoles, but price too high, failed (3DO came out in a period when HW power was still very expensive, and the price of graphics chips wasn't dropping yet as fast as now, so it had also far lower chances of reaching a barely acceptable price as fast as an expensive console like PS3 could more than 10 years later).
I don't know if I'll buy one, but I'm not ruling it out.

what would you do with Ouya if you were to purhcse it.

Well, quick games when I'm not in the mood for complex PC games would be an obvious use, playing with friends too, taking it with me on holidays to relax after the sea or after skiing could be another use. I don't know whether I'd experiment programming it too, as dancing, reading, travelling and playing games already take most of my free time, not to mention GFs when I'm not single, while when I'm actually on vacation, skiing or swimming leave me time, energy and mindset for GFs, dancing and relaxing hobbies, not challenging ones.

busy busy busy and fulfilling.

i think the main focus is creation, and experimentation. and just because it's android based, doesn't mean it's mobile, and plz change your tone.

It is mobile fool ! ... stop fooling yourself..  u have stocks with android? .. watch ouya crash and burn.

You can hook up a PS3 controller to certain tablets, even probably your asus there.

I have played Planet Crashers (Online Multiplayer) & Speed X & many others, but on my 3DS in 60 fps per eye in 3D with 6 speaker sound via earphone jack.

But they aren't as good as Dillon's Rolling Western & Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword & Ketzal's Corridors & Liberation maiden & Johnny Kung Fu/Hot Shot/Impossible & Crimson Shroud & so fort.

Mobile gaming seems to be another form of PC gaming that is suppose to destroy Home Consoles & Handheld Consoles, and only helps the consoles instead by introducing more people into the world of video games.

But I think OUYA will do not bad but not good either, just nested in the middle with a dedicated amount of gamers to keep it around at a stable capacity to be sustain.

i agree. i think OUYA will rest nicely in the middle creating nitch experiences, or something bigger. i'm really hoping for something bigger.

Because it doesn't have the same restrictions as the 360 does, it's open to apps less restrictive for getting apps accepted.

It's also cheap, and cross-plat with other Android devices. It's compatible with Adobe Air and other non-proprietary tech.

In essence it has all the benefits of an open platform and of a console.

i don't play games on phones, and i don't own a cellphone. i like what Ouya represents for aspiring developers.

So who or which demographic will this be aimed at?

it's an open platform. there has been lots of information posted in this and the other thread you poste in which is why i sent you a link. are you not reading the op?

cause you should know the answer to your question by now. there is emulation, game dev., and general screwing around with the hardware. you can do anything with it because it's mostly un-restricted.

What does that even mean? Is it being aimed at mobile gamers, casual gamers, hardcore, etc? Does it specifically say that in the OP?

you can catch up on OUYA here Ouya - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Look at what companies are developing for mobile. Almost every major company is putting products on iOS and Android. Square, Activision, Ubisoft, and so on.

Input is what you make of it - Final Fantasy Dimensions plays like any Final Fantasy I played on NES and SNES. There are plenty of fantastic games for mobile out there. Given how titles are selling on mobile platforms, they're going to keep taking dollars away from handhelds, which have been underperforming the entire generation.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
