Anyone else think their was a lack of great RPG's this generation? Last gen had a lot of awesome and wonderful RPG's but this gen has been very bland with a lot of average at best RPG's being released with the exception being Namco Tales of Vesperia, Xillia, and Graces. Of course this is my opinion but I would like to hear everyone elses. 

On a side note I mean JRPG's not Shooter games like Mass Effect with just RPG elements.

There have been some good ones with Valkyria Chronicles and more recently Ni No Kuni. Agreed that there has been a drop in volume and quality overall.

I didn't really think PS2 had many JRPG's last gen either... atleast compared to PSX. This gen had a lot better new IP's imo.

This Gen has a fair amount I really like. I don't like tales of, Star Ocean, Or Xenosaga (great story, dreadful gameplay). Obviously there's some I haven't played, but There's plenty I liked. Final Fantasy has gotten worse but final fantasy =/= JRPG's.

Sony is to blame for the japanese decline this gen honestly

I've never played JRPG's until this gen actually... You should definitely try out Xenoblade!! Great game. And I'm confident we'll see even more great JRPG's going into this new generation.

Yeah I was going to wait and Purchase a Wii U and then Get games like Xenoblade (even if I have to pay $100 for a copy) and The Last Story. 

You should put JRPG in the title, this gen has seen a number of great WRPGs.

On topic though, Xenoblade Chronicles is fantastic. Honestly, that game is the saved JRPGs for me this gen.

Yes they have, on a whole.

There have been some great JRPGs this gen, but the bulk have moved away from home consoles to handhelds.

While games like Eternal Sonata, Valk Chronicles, Tales of Grace F, and Lost Odyssey were fantastic on Consoles, the Handhelds this gen got the Bulk of JRPGs (Jean D'Arc, Radiant Historia, and many many more)

My favorite JRPGs came from Last Gen and in terms of bulk quality Ill have to go with Last Gen over this one.

And I do not think this is going to change.
