There have been rumblings about a 2D Zelda being planned for this year - but whether it's multiplayer, single-player, or the previously rumoured Link's Awakening remake is unclear. It does seem to be a Switch title. It makes sense one would be due this year. Aonuma commented that the handheld and home console styles of Zelda would continue rather than merge into one school of design. Switch also makes a lot of sense for multiplayer Zelda - probably more sense than any system that's hosted one of the multiplayer Zelda titles.

Personally I'd prefer a single-player title over a multiplayer title, even if multiplayer Zelda has a lot of potential on Switch. I'd really like to see a brand new single-player game in the top-down series, or a remake of Adventure of Link.

I never Liked Any 2D Zelda. I Tried alot but IT Just doesnt click for me. So i couldnt Care less. But give me all the 3D Zeldas.

Especially because the movement speed is as slow as in the original; the slowness made sense on the Gameboy with its tiny field of play, but a remake has the advantage of TV screen and a portable screen with no limitations.

EDIT: I must say that I didn't like the artstyle on first sight, but the second time I watched the trailer I found it okay. But still... Link is sooo slow.

I really like the artstyle, but I agree with you that I want more content than just the original game.

Meh!! Why remake a gameboy game?? Why not remake the first 3 zelda games? The first Zelda game deserves to be remade. I still play the original Zelda game. Such a fantastic game that, newer generations of gamers should have the opportunity to play in a more modern style.

Well. let's at least hope that this is a beginning, and more remakes of older games will come.
