I've recently heard an idea about Sony making a Digimon games for Vita. I think this could be worth a shot, it would be the closest thing to Pokemon imaginable. Just make it a good RPG with awesome graphics that 3DS can't get close to, market it like crazy and hope for the best!

Won't work. The media will look it as a Pokemon clone and will get A LOT of bad press (even more than PASBR), plus if it is targeted to kids, the parents will buy the cheaper console (obviously the 3DS), and also you can't compte with Pokemon in popularity.

It needs to sell ad least 10mil this year for it to be worth continuing with. So I hope 10 mil but in reality if its around 3/4 its dead

It would be compared, no doubt, they'd just have to find their own way to make the game different enough. After all, from what I remember the Digimon series was never about catching other Digimons, right? So the game could be quite different and avoid being compared at every step and often dismissed from the start like PSASBR. If you don't try, you'll never win. Right now Vita has nothing for kids and I think there is some potential here, though this game obviously would never win with Pokemon, just like the anime didn't. Still, if it became a legit enough game to warrant sequels and moved a couple Vitas, it would be a success. They could bundle the game with special edition Vitas in different colours and with the Digimon images or something and market that heavily to get to the parents. Parents choose the cheaper console, but I can't imagine Vita not dropping the price. 179 vs. 199 could work.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

I'm going with less unless they come with a big price drop and bundle 32GB cards for cheap.

The marketing push will need to be extreme to warranty a success. Kids are familiar with the Pokemon concept, a similar game will create doubts in a lot of them (similar to how kids thought Digimon was a copy of Pokemon). It could work but the marketing needs to be huge, I'm talking about toys, A LOT of adds and heck even a TV show or something.

Why not, there already is an anime, toys probably as well. They could talk with the owners of the brand about a reboot, new season, they could make a full cinema CGI movie, whatever. The bottom line is - there are many options, Sony can make a push at every single market. There are many awesome games they should fight to bring to Vita, but they seem to be so passive, it hurts.

I thought you were talking about a new series, not Digimon, I misread your previous post. A reboot could work, but Sony will have to investigate if the purchase of the franchise plus marketing will be feasible for them in the long run. Digimon have lost a lot of popularity and making kids like the series again will take a lot of investment. Unfortunately, given Sony's track record this job is probably going to be harder than it looks.

Damn. Sorry I didn't make a thread like this at the begging of the year. I practically have it finished but I just lost interest and have been too busy with my new position and dealing with the flu.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
