I completely agree with the poster who said saying "I don't mind" is incredibly patronising and frustrating. I encounter this all the time - people falling over themselves to tell me they don't mind that I'm gay or "people like me" don't bother them. I always think a) I don't give a fuck whether you mind or not and b) if you really don't mind, why the hell do you have to keep bringing it up in the first place. Straight people seem more concerned with me being gay than I am about it!

I don't know how me not minding if you are gay or not is offensive. Especially when I totally support the Gay Community. Which I would think be obvious by how I replied to this thread.

It's not offensive. I'm not saying you, I haven't mentioned you. I'm just saying when I get told by people I meet, "I don't mind" I feel irritated, like I'm thinking why are you even bringing this up? If people went around saying "I don't mind that you're black" they'd either get a smack in the mouth or called out (quite rightly). I wasn't directing this at you, it's just one of the discussions you were having with another poster reminded me of why I find it so bloody rude if anything to be told "I don't mind what you are" when they needn't bring it up in the first place. Plus I don't care if people mind. If they do that's a shame but I'm not gonna apologise sorta thing, you know?

If I were to come up to you I wouldn't tell you straight up that "I don't mind." I was just using that in my discussion because I needed something to defend against my opinion. Now, if you asked me whether I cared that you were Gay or not (which you wouldn't because you don't care) I would tell you something along the lines of "I don't mind that you're Gay one bit."

Some people just took my comment and made it into something that it wasn't supposed to be. I was actually trying to be nice about it... but whatever. I'm just trying to explain my reasoning.

@NinPie - I just explained to you that my response WASN'T TO YOU. I said that several times NOT TO YOU. NOTHING to do with anything you've said AT ALL. I'm sorry for caps but I can't make it any clearer that I've taken offence at nothing you've said and I wasn't addressing you. As explained, I was responding to the poster you were having a chat with.

I am 100% gay an my boyfriend is snoozing in our bed atm! I'm off to the university in 30 mins to do some programming! Am I that different? I don't think so. My boyfriend and I have dreams like every other couple out there. We want to build a house together, raise kids (Maybe not our own, but adoption helps another human being to get a better life), travel to see the world and so on. The only "difference" between a heterosexual couple is that we are both men. If you find someone to have dreams about kids, travelling, building a home with, would all that be wrong simply because it's two men? And no I don't think you can cure being gay. I grew up in fostercare with christian parents.

Have a nice day everyone :)

If you want to stop homosexuality you have to re-engineer nature. Read a book. Its common knowledge already that homosexuality exists in the animal kingdom thus its not exclusive to wild animals, but also easily domesticated ones all the way  up to us. If you turn to religion to answer sexuality issues its a lost cause. Religion explains little to nothing outside of guidelines and morality.

And this is what I said at the end:

"I'm just trying to explain my reasoning."

I was trying to give you a little more insight as to why I thought that way. I was thinking it would help you understand people who have that mind-set a little better.

Edit: I knew you weren't talking about me. (In the second post of your's. The first one I thought you were bashing me.)

This is why I shouldn't have the Internet! It's nothing but frustration! I wish I didn't love this site so much...
