I agree with some of the other people that have mentioned that they are too far along at this point.. I don't think it would be that easy to just change specs on the go, months before sale; which means probably weeks before manufacturing so they can meet demand and ship it across the world. Plus game development is to far along to make any high profile changes, it's too late at this point without having to go many steps backwards, and doesn't Kaz want to launch before the next xbox?

2015, if ever. I've been saying it for about a year, now. Sony just can't afford to launch. I don't care what announcements they make or what new technology they show. There won't be a PS4 for two years.

they even made massive profit on that.

but don't bother about z101. he just waited for this to be posted. he also was the first to write negative press under that golem.de article. i think golem is his usual habitat for flaming sony. and yes, i am waiting there for him to show up to see what he's writing again.

It's too late to make any big changes to the hardware without forcing the developers behing the launch titles to scrap part or all their job and start again. The only changes they could do now could be an increase on the frequencies of the CPU, GPU or both and add more memory. And none of this factors could delay the PS4 more than one or two months.

If they are delaying the console is because they know that they won't have enough software at launch or because those extra months will allow them to build the console for less money.

This statement ascertained by you basically goes without a base on explaning the reasons why Sony can't afford to launch. They needn't launch too. The financial state of Sony is not like they were in the PS2 heydays. But they launced Vita yet. If it had to be a six month delay, Sony would strive to release their next console. It's just as Kaz mentioned and it makes sense too. PS3 doesn't deserve a successor as much as the 360 does. It was released much later and continues to perform in the current market which is good.

Kaz Hirai only told that he doesn't find it a problem to show the PS4 after new Xbox has been showed. Don't forget that he still wants the release to be before Microsoft's next console.
