Forums - Sony Discussion - Oh no... IGN: "Sony Will Let Microsoft Make First Move - Hirai sees no point in announcing first."

The next generation will play out completely different from the last, me thinks. If Sony are confident in their system, software and price-point- releasing their system last wouldn't put them in a disadvantage that they can't overcome.

For as long as PS3 is outselling the competition, which is the case, Sony isn't the one pressed to come out with a new console.

However, they cannot be too late again. They need to release and announce really close to Microsoft.

Outselling the competition at the end of the generation while all current gen sales are falling faster than a fat banker on black friday does not mean that Sony can coast bye. This gen is closing up fast and Sony, just like MS, needs to get their system out no later than this holiday.

Of course you'd want to announce second. You get to see what the competition shows off, and than determine what you have to do in order to outshine them. Worst thing that could happen is if Sony shows a little bit of the ps4, and than a week later Microsoft goes all out and really out does them and kills all the Sony buzz.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Well Kazuo Hirai is a smart man, I trust him

He really is, I also trust the guy to make the right choice. Also, I want the three companies to survive, because gaming without competition is not cool, you gotta have competition to make the industry evolve. Without Sega, we would be playing Nintendo Entertainment System till this day, Mario 23 and Megaman 19, things like that...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

It means that, if 720 is announced at E3, PS4 will only be announced, at least, at TGS?

"It's more likely that the additional time would be use to adjust the messaging surrounding the announcement."

That line pretty much nailed it. Kaz's excuse was a scapegoat. Something else is going on underneath his message.

It could very well be that he's trying to calm down announcement hype right now so Sony can come out in a few weeks and surprise everyone with the PS4.

Kaz seems to be worried about 720 power, he to wants PS4 to be more powerful, because of this he wants to see the specs of 720 before anything.

already posted. steal the pad idea but make it better

Well it worked with the PS3, Microsoft rushed the 360 and it had a bad first impression. Sony doesn't want that to happen to them. Nothing wrong with being last.
