Nintendo is silent because that's their way, for better or worse. It really doesn't have to have any meaning.

Sure, but how do you explain the 1st party release gaps? That's what I meant by reason.

The gaps come from the fact that Nintendo just doesn't have the studios to keep their lineup constantly filled.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo has ace's up their sleeves and they have the money to make it happen unlike Sony. The Wii U will be a sucess. They will make sure it is, just like they did with the 3DS.

With that said, they should be more open with their plans so people can feel more hyped and motivated to buy the system.

Why did you have to bring up Sony. What did we do to you ?

QFT!! I only see Wii U owners sweet talking the system, but the rest aren't to impressed, and those are the people that Nintendo need to butter up, you know, because they're the potential costumer...

I'm not sure who you're referring to but I'm not a U owner.

Well, ok - but most people on this site isn't too impressed with the Wii U, and that's still not good. You and I will probably get the system sooner or later, but then again, we are NIntendo fans; but what about kitler? What would make HIM buy the system? THAT'S what's important...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Yes, they are silent because they were ill prepared and was over confident about their product. Given how poor the third party support is they should have timed their first party releases so there wouldn't be any major droughts post launch which is not the case. Looks like a rushed launch to me really, in an attempt to get the hardware into the market before the competition

then i'll have to rebuttle starfighter's theory.

the core are like little marketing machines.  the core, by definintion, are really into video games and talking about video games.  right now the core have nothing good to say.  the core is saying things like wiiU is power wise a last (aka current) gen machine.  they are saying wiiU isn't getting any games (read: GTAV, bioshock infinate, dark souls 2, ect.). that talk is was nintendo fans like to refer to as "word of mouth" and right now the conversation is bad.

holding out on all the good stuff just isn't a good idea, especially if they have a lot to show.  they need to give people something to change that conversation for the positive.  if not, six months of bad (word of mouth) press will be very very damaging.  first impressions are hard to reverse.

QFT!! I only see Wii U owners sweet talking the system, but the rest aren't to impressed, and those are the people that Nintendo need to butter up, you know, because they're the potential costumer...

i saw your post as i was writting that and i have to agree with you.  nintendo doesn't need to show everything but a 30 second teaser from a visually stunning retro project would do amazing things to change wiiU's perception.

Kitler belongs to a vocal minority that comprises most of the internet. Ultimately, they are not the people who resulted in 140m HD twin console sales last gen, to put it simply. Neither do their views reflect that of the consumerbase that bought those 140m units.

They are vocal, okay I accept that, but in the end, they aren't what's important as you put it, not centrally no.

Also, in the 360's launch time, those online were much more pro Playstation, since the PS2 was just ending its reign of utter dominance against the other brands. That didn't stop the 360 from pushing consoles with not too many game releases. There was the elder scrolls, Hitman, Call of Duty WaW, but not much else.

@Mr Khan. Did you go to DS's thread about what Nintendo is up to? Many of those have yet to show some output. And, for instance, Mario galaxy came out in Nov 2007. That was 4 years ago.

@M.U.G.E.N. That's what I'm saying. I'm starting to think they had little at launch to be ready for the REAL launch, that is WiiU year 2 and PS720 year 1, where it really matters, where it mattered for the 360 and the PS2 respectively iirc.

They are silent because they did the same mistake that with 3DS: Big post-launch drought. Unfortunately, this time a remake of Ocarina of TIme won't save it.

But a remake of Wind Waker...

maybe i and the forums on VGC are a small corner of the world but what about ign, gamespot, kotaku, gametrailers?  they keep posting negative articles and their combined reach is pretty far.   they are especially far reaching in that core market that you began the OP with suggesting nintendo is going to win over.

But happyD: that's a HUGE gamble and will put a lot of things at risk. Kitler brings out a very valid point about it too. It will harm the image of the product and if nintendo doesn't act fast that harm might be severe. It also counts on both MSony to absolute fuck up with their launches.

Let's be real here, even in the worst case scenario, MSony will release systems that are more powerful than the wiiu. And if Nintendo keep everything for E3 and MSony have hardware reveals plus games for them it will be REALLY hard to grab any headlines and hype for the wiiu. And say they keep the best looking games they have until E3...what if SSM, ND, 343 etc show games on the rival systems with more power? Then the countless comparing and downplaying of wiiu's capabilities would be through the roof

Kitler is right..they need to at least user teaser trailers etc to keep the hype going for the system. Smash, bayo etc etc. Because their Q1 line up will not be enough

That is true. But 360 got all the 3rd party support and also Gears, which was a huge new IP system seller, in its first year. Wii U most likely won't get nearly as much 3rd party support which is why Nintendo have to do something. Even just a hint at a new Smash Bros or a new 3D Mario or a WiiU pokemon or something might be enough to stimulate sales a bit.

Gears was out in Nov 2006 though, 360 came out in Nov 2005. Was 3rd party multi-plat support so great for 360 early on? I don't remember it being that way.

Gears was announced way earlier though (2005). Examples of 360 third-party (console) exclusives: Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Condemned, Ridge Racer 6, Dead or Alive 4, Full Auto, Chromehounds, Ninety-Nine-Nights, Saints Row, Call of Duty 2, Quake 4, Prey etc. It did have good support. Then Assassin's Creed was also confirmed to be going multiplat (previously believed to be PS3 only) and there were many other similar examples (DMC4 off the top of my head)
