Do we know where its undertracked yet?

No but 360 did great in Brazil in 2012... jumped from a monthly market share below 10% in early 2012 to 65% in August and 85% in December.

Yeah, we know that. Didnt they move production to Brazil and drop a massive pricecut on it?

How many does a console generally sell per Year over there?

Yeap the price dropped 40%... Sony did the same now in 2013.

Combined the consoles sell ~1.5 million units per year but they are up here in 2012... so maybe near 2 million... I can't say in the year how much market share the 360 had (~6% in January, 65% in August and 85% in December) but I guess it sold at least ~700k units in 2012 compared to lifetime of 300k before the price cut (all years together before the price cut).

I can see VGC undertracking it ~300k just in Brazil in 2012.

7 year old hardware pushed 5.9 million new consoles. That's pretty damn impressive.

So how can I predictic the mostly close number if I'm a Xbox hater??? I did a pessimistic prediction for 360 and I was right.

5.9 isnt pessimistic.  Its realistic and shows that the 360 is dong better than this site thinks.

circa 5.0m would have been realistic and accurate if we believe the numbers here are spot on.

It also proves that the PS3 did infact pass the 360. considering those predictions made a while back ended up being correct

So the PS3 is most likely undertracked even more ;)

No the predictions were estimates and they were never declared correct by Sony so it's pretty certain the PS3 didn't outship the 360 yet.  Saying the PS3 is undertracked or overtracked right now is just guessing as you have no evidence until we get shipment figures from Sony.  It's highly unlikely the PS3 shipments to increase YOY though, even if they channel stuffed.

The only thing this does prove is we are undertracking the 360 at the moment, obviously the exact amount is up for debate but it's somewhere between 300k - 1 million.

Nice. Thanks. When we get Europe numbers from Nintendo it should give us a clearer picture.

My hope for this year is for the 360 to be ahead of the PS3 until the nextbox is released and better yet both of the next generation consoles. Then I can comfortably give 2nd place to them officially.

Whilst in the real world whatever console actually ends up selling the most overall is officially above the one that sells less. #MindBlown

So, you'd prefer the ps3 to cross the finish line last and end up a guy looking to his past wondering what could have been?!?

Over a 2.5 million gap between VGchartz figure and the shipped as at 31/12/12. Hard to believe 2.5 million on store shelves or sitting in storage.

Not sure about that.  It didnt seem to matter last year.  Hence my impatience with the over reliance on Nintendo numbers.

They are the more accurate numbers. Theres nothing different to the reliance on them than there is to the reliance on NPD, Media Create or Famitsu.

Does waiting a few weeks for the adjustments really matter? Maybe they will be done this week... Maybe not. No rush.

I think 2011 was fine because MS clearly overshipped but 2012 is weird.

I'm not bothered about a delay.  What I am saying is the Ninty numbers wont have the answer.

True, only Smarties have the answer!

Would Nintendo numbers cover every region?
