Those who are in favor of this game and keep using the "it's the hair" argument as a massive straw men to defend it against any criticism are in no way better than the "haters" they criticise.
By the way, at the end of the day, wouldn't it had been better for all of us if this game wasn't called "Devil May Cry" ? What if Capcom had just published this game as its own IP, giving Ninja Theory the freedom to create whatever they wanted without "competing" with the old Devil May Cry universe ? Without needlessly dividing your fanbase ?

No imo it wouldnt be better. This game wasnt made to be a New IP but instead made to be a DmC Reboot, and if it had to be giving its own name and changed charactor names etc then it would be just called a DmC Copycat. Oh this game is using a character thats alot like dante, or his even fighting demons like dante, or he even kinda fights like dante. Good job Capcom for copying one of your own games would be the outrage.
Also as a fan of the Devil May Cry games im happy its getting a fresh start as sometimes its needed.
Also No us real fans calling out the other so called fans for complaining over simple things or things that dont exist isnt worse, as we are not trying to kill one of our fav franchis, but them Other DmC fans are so blinded by hate over a few simple changes that they want this game to bomb hard they are hoping people wont buy it and in return wants to destory the DMC franchis and then try blame it on this game if it did happen.
Why they are so pissed now is its looking like this game is going to save the DMC game brand and they dont like that fact, so they will try find every little thing they can to complain about, first its the change of hair, then its or well Dante wouldnt talk or act like that, then its the game is not 60FPS, the combos are not the same etc etc etc. Thats My Opinion on the subject.

You're thinking about the game as it is now, not what it could've been as its own IP. If you read Tameem's interviews regarding the game then you know that he had little respect for what the old Devil May Cry games stand for. For that "over the top" Japanese-style action and visual design, focusing more on its gameplay mechanics than telling a "serious" story. This game is clearly the opposite. It sacrifices some gameplay elements (a big part of it done by Capcom Japan anyway) while putting more emphasis in the story; One which now includes parodies of real people/organizations as some sort of social commentary. Because of all this, I think that Ninja Theory would've been much more comfortable with having the freedom to create its own thing instead of being limited by the Devil May Cry name. And the result of this is that it ends up being neither one nor the other.
The game would've turned out much different than it did on this hypothetical scenario, which would've been closer to what Ninja Theory knows and wants to make instead of being stuck in some sort of limbo between one thing and another as it is now. And those who like the new elements would probably enjoy it, while those who dislike it would just ignore it and move on. Of course, this is pure speculation on my part, but you can't tell me that there would be just as much people complaining about it as they're now if the game were its own IP.
As far as the whole "fresh start" goes... That's clearly not the reason Ninja Theory was chosen, so it's no excuse for this. Obviously Capcom is capable enough to reboot the franchise by themselves if they wanted to, or create a spinoff, prequel, or anything that tries to make the series "fresh" again. In fact, it's not like Devil May Cry 4 didn't have new elements or sold poorly. They didn't have to go with the Western developer that has the reputation of making games with great narrative and poor gameplay. They had other options.
Finally, I'll just reiterate the point that what you're doing is no different than what you say the "haters" do. The whole "real fans" fallacy, generalizing a whole group of people and their arguments with straw men, ridiculing them, etc. There's plenty of valid arguments against the game and disagreeing with them doesn't make them any less so. If you want to prove you're better than them, then you'll acknowledge that.
