No way, I don't believe it.

Maelstrom told me that 2D Mario is what the market wants.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I said that it had to have happened sooner or later. Please do not tell me that it is about the highest selling game for the WiiU. Sales do not really matter now. Nintendo over worked their fat, Italian plumber. In the past Mario would be the main reason to buy a Nintendo system. There was tons of hype surrounding him. Not anymore. Nintendo flooded the market with their prized plumber. Flood the market with gold, gold price goes down. Make 20 Saw movies and people start to not care. That is why these CEOs at Nintendo need to go. They destroyed their advantage and are unwilling to use their other IPs in any constructive way.

On the other side the Wii U has been great! Even people who hate Nintendo have to admit, that they want to try out everything that the Wii U can do. Sadly, there is not a game that excites anyone enough to purchase it beyond Nintendoland.

Do no give us another Mario this year Nintendo or things will only get worse with your Plumber. Remember Crash Bandicoot? Spyro a few years ago, Gex? Milked and forgotten.

This Christmas needs Nintendo to bring some variety to the plate. The kind of variety that we saw for a few months in the West last year with the 3DS. When kid Icarus came out things were looking up! Gamers were getting excited about Nintendo again. Then the hype fell as hardly any other games came out other than Mario Tennis and Mario Mario.

No! Fuck you Miyamoto! We are not playing anymore. No more Mario! This is the last damned time I am going to say this to you! Read Vgchartz for once.

I don't think NSMBU failed at all. It's a great game, I enjoy it. The biggest problem is it's really the only reason to buy the system, and the system is $350 for the good version. WiiU has a boatload of great titles, but most are available on cheaper systems with bigger libraries and more fellow owners to play with and talk about gaming with. NintendoLand is really neat, but not quite as cool as WiiSports.

WiiU is hardly a failure, it had a solid launch. This week sales were definitely week. If that continues there is a problem. And I think there is a problem with a combo of price, marketing and a lack of trully compelling games that can't be purchased elsewhere. And also exceptional competition from PS3 and XBox360. WiiU is awesome. I can play CoD, AC, Batman, MarioBros... but 3/4 I could have picked up on my 360. I bought it because I was anxious for a new system, really like MarioBros and had some extra cash. But if my situation was different I would have been happy waiting.

I don't think Mario's been milked too much though. He just needs backup. WiiU needs a combination of a)time - to get the word out b) a modest price drop c) deep impressive games d) something unique and innovative e) marketing - to get the word out. You could see all of these coming within the year or at least some are guarenteed.

I would like to see a $50 drop on Deluxe pack and elimination of Basic, Super Mario Universe (with lots of unique worlds and innovation), a western styled action-adventure from Rare with outstanding graphics, WiiSportsU with really fun new games - or whole new concept using the gamepad but still simple and adult like Sports and a major makreting push to get the word out about what the system is. The ads need to be cool, not like the first round this past Christmas. A white 32gig WiiSportsU bundle could work wonders too and tug at a lot of fond memories that people have from 6 years ago.

Wii U needs a shot of adrenaline, but you my friend might want to ease off on caffeine :p

I am hopeful that January isnt one and done with Pokemon Direct but also come with a Nintendo Direct will will help ease the anxiety of its fans (I doubt ND is viewed by anyone outside of gaming circles).

They've stumbled out of the gate with download time, missing accessories (TVii), missing Apps, slow OS, luke warm marketing and finally appear to be paying the price with less than expected sales and nearly a dearth of momentum to wrap up the last 3 months of the fiscal year. Mario may habe seen too much light, but it's the whole process feeling less than refined that begets the negative word of mouth.

If anything, I hope they are working on updating the firmware of any unsold units and not take the early customers for granted. They must also stop celebrating what a banner year 3DS would have in Japan and really react to the gloomy state the industry is really in. Take away 3DS, whole industry looks like nuts in a freezing pool.

Yes, that is a good analogy. You eat choclates and soon enough it starts to make you sick to your stomach unless you are Shoenice from youtube. You just cannot eat Choclate after choclate after choclate. Thanks for the addition to the thread Miz! ^_^ You always come through.

:D loling as I write this

*salutes*

I don´t wanna raise any controversial discussions, but compared to Rayman Legends New Super Mario Bros U really sucks. I have played the demo yesterday with my little sister and got brainfucked by the Black Betty Level.

New Super Mario Bros. U was fun and all but they really should try to work on the main formula. I am courious to see what they are going to do with the new Donkey Kong game

They said that they learned a hard lesson (in regards to first party software support) with the sluggish 3DS launch. Can't say I believe them.

I don't think too much Mario is the problem. The problem is that people want a follow up the main Mario games. They want a successor the the Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy type of gameplay. 2D Mario is what people play who can't get enough platforming. 3D Mario is what EVERYONE plays.
