What does "LTD" mean?

Life to date. As in, sales up to this moment right now. Title is wrong, should've said 'lifetime' instead of LTD.

My prediction that I've made for a month is now in line with Michael Pachter. I predicted between 40-45 million, at best 50 million. This means the games and marketing need to pick up or else.

Since Patcher is always wrong, safe to say your powers of deduction have slipped :P

I'm not sure why anyone is worried about the Wii U. Poor sales only mean that it gets less third party support and financially weakens the company. Given that I imagine people only really buy it for first party games and Nintendo is in a great position financially with not much chance of being taken down, does it matter if it sells badly?

45 million isnt bad at all. Nintendo will profit off of the Wii U.

Sigh I hope your right S.T.A.G.E

Honestly I dont about these consule wars or which system is the most popular, nintendo was a large factor in why I had a happy childhood and i want them to do well.

You and Pach must know the wiiu game lineup for the future. Do tell!  lol...  It's way too early to know real projections but if you guys are correct Nintendo remains in business.  40 to 50 wouldn't be bad and would likely force them to stay focused on the core Nintendo fan.

Temper, temper. My prediction is based on Nintendos launch, it is subject to change like all of our predictions until the first two years are over.

Pachter may not be the most liked guy and everyone can be wrong at some point, but he hasn't gotten this far off of lack of knowledge and how people respond on a general level to products. From a gamers perspective, he's a failure of an analyst, but from a general market perspective he's more spot on than most.....remember that.

I agree with everything you've said and Nintendo played a very large part in my childhood as well (note: My childhood). I am only making predictions based off of Nintendos launch. Again, I will continue to predict based on the second year (especially after E3) which will give me a better idea of what they have planned for the year. I am not one to wish for Nintendos demise and I do not want them to go, they served a purpose in my entrance into gaming and they will continue to for millions of other children around the world. Just because I grew out of Nintendo doesn't mean I dont wish them the best.

For the past 3 Nintendo consoles, year 1 was not a good indication of life time sales but year 2 definitely was either the peak or led to the peak. 3DS' 3rd year might be Wiiesque.

Wii U needs some fire power this year or Pachter might be right.

I agree, Nintendo really needs to established the U this Christmas and use it as a spring board going into 2014 with big software titles and perhaps a few exclusive surprises.

I could agree with this. They need the holiday season and the children and to push the Wii Fit home with the casual parents of those children.

People need to be realistic here. Pointing to sales in Europe right now or the fact that WiiU was outsold by the competition this holiday as a solid indication of how well WiiU will be selling in the future is a flawed metric for many reasons. Have people forgotten how the PS360 were outsold by the PS2 for the first couple of years, how the GBA outsold the DS initially, or how the 3DS was barely managing 60k a week globally there for a while?

Just wait until next holiday when the cheaper WiiU and some big games go up against the new consoles. And how about its third and fourth holidays as low as $199 with a solid library and a new Mario Kart or Smash Bros? That's likely when we'll see it looking like 360 and PS3 did this last holiday.

Pachter's prediction is set low, but the people thinking WiiU is only going to manage 30 or 35m globally in its entire life are kidding themselves.

360 sold 1.1 million units in december 2006, with ps2 selling 1.4 million, 2005 360 was sold out every sinlge system availble at launch, so even though ps2 out sold it, 360 had healthy numbers and had a crazy attach ratio with games.

Except perhaps for the game attach ratio, I don't think you're making the case you think you are.

The WiiU outsold the 360 by over 1m units by the end of their respective launch years, so its numbers are plenty healthy. And am I to assume you believe WiiU won't manage 1.1m in December 2013? If so, you're likely in for a surprise.

i will put i'm a dumb donkey under my sig if wii u does 1.1 million  units in december 2013 npd.

Sorry to bump this thread again, Vgchartz... I just wanted the above statement preserved.

lol its not gonna happen, preserve it.

While I don't agree with his logic, I finally agree with a prediction by Pachter. Though I'm not agreeing with the why, probably around 40-45 million units sold is a good guess for Wii U as it is.
