Forums - General Discussion - Should vgchart mods be Internet police?- Necro bans and double jeopardy as well!

I am not mad about this situation anymore, so now is a good time to talk about it. About a month ago I was banned. Well let me give you some back ground information..

I made some threads on gamestop in an earlier argument with a User on this site that I am now friends with on gamewise. What's is gamewise? See thread on the matter. This User did not see these threads until months later. But needless to say, even though they were old battle threads he got mad and mildly attacked me. Anyways this is not about that. I am over it. Just giving some history. I then went to facebook, found his profile and left him a nasty message.

Five minutes later I was banned on fac......vgchartz. O_o

Someone a few months ago stole one of our users identity and nothing happened. Another User did some crazy stuff all over other sites and nothing happened.

So do you think Vgmods should be allowed to be Internet police and ban for things done elsewhere? Where is the line drawn?

A Month ago? wasn't a week ago? XD

Also, I thought Proclus should've been banned, what he did was just creepy! There is a difference between posting joke trollish reviews and impersonating :/

You sent me a message on Facebook?

Ohhh... juicy gossip. You must tell me, Cub!

OT: If you were over it I would think this thread wouldn't have been made.

I can't side with you on this one, Ryan. You shouldn't posted about other people on other websites talking trash about them.

Carl is a Piplup hater and deserves to be punished eternally.

@ Carl

Huh?

@ others

Why would this be locked. Just disgussing whether they should or not.

"I then went to facebook, found his profile and left him a nasty message."

Im assuming that was about me. Was it? Or the mod who banned you?

We try to draw the line on things that affect VGChartz. If it involves VGChartz in some way (the user is a part of VGChartz and you're assaulting them while making direct reference to VGChartz being the cause, if you bring stuff you do on other sites to VGChartz in order to cause a fuss, etc.) then there is a chance that you'll be moderated for it.

The incident between you and Carl had you making threads  to try and bad-talk Carl on other sites. Notice how those sites didn't want any of it on their forums? It was a direct reference to Carl and that is why you were moderated for it. Carl was also warned for his attack at you. As for this whole Facebook thing, I don't know what you're talking about so enlighten me if you wish so I might try to explain.

The identity theft incident is something different and unique. It is beyond our jurisdiction as it is higher up the food chain in terms of punishment - it is illegal. However, more went on about that than the rest of the chartz knows and needs to know. If crissindahouse wishes to share more on what went on with that incident he can. But it is not my right to divulge the happenings as it was a private matter between two other people. Just know that the mods were watching it and keeping contact in order to act as necessary if it was required. Try not to jump to conclusions just because you don't see something visibly. Warning and banning is not all we do.

As for this other user doing something crazy all over other sites, if the user in question somehow tries to bring this crazy stuff from other sites onto VGChartz (say as calling out other users on those sites that are from VGChartz, or attempting to bait users on VGChartz with their material from the other sites), they can be moderated for it as it has made its way to altering behavior on VGChartz.

For a hypothetical example, say I start making threads on Gamespot about how axum is an incompetent head mod for VGChartz. That is attacking a member of VGChartz directly and it's pretty clear that the mod team should take action. Say now that I become active on Gamespot, become a big member there and even get involved at the staff level. Once I do, I start trolling one of the console companies like crazy and start posting those news articles from Gamespot on VGC to cause problems. That is also something that the mod team would take action on.

Hope this clarifies some things
