Janitors are low level peons without and education who make 12-15 bucks an hour. This is stupid though I'm all for teachers carrying them.

On a side note ...

I wonder how many of those PHDs regret their education now. Its one thing to say you don't care that your education has no real world value when you're a student, but when you graduate with tens of thousands of dollars of student debt and work at an awful job for low pay I imagine your values shift dramatically.

That article doesn't give the entire story either. I'm sure a lot of those who are working as janitors with PhDs are foreigners. I remember hearing how medical doctors in the Philippines are coming to the US because they can make more money at a lower job level. Immigrants with an education are at a huge disadvantage. But if that is what happened with the 5k janitor positions I'm sure they really aren't regreting it too much considering they are probably making more doing that than they would in their country

5k have phd's in which country? Also, 5k hardly disproves anything i said considering that would be a small minority .25%

Actually, 5000 people with PHDs doing a very low level job in the United States is huge ...

It is a growing problem due to the massive increase of people getting college/university degrees over the past couple of generations. When less than 10% of people had a bachelors degree simply having any college degree made a person stand out when they were looking for a "good" job; but, as the number of people with college degrees increased, there was increasing competition for "good" jobs and the degree had to fit the field in order to stand out. Today there are so many people with masters degrees and PHDs that even having those degrees doesn't make someone stand out, and an increasing number are fighting over jobs that can easily be handled by someone with a grade 6 education.

I believe concealed carry gun owners actually commit less gun crime then the general population. (With or without legal firearms).

So yeah. Probably couldn't hurt.

I like how you say someone has poor reading comprehension mere moments after you fail to comprehed that that link says "in the US" XD.

And considering a PHD is pretty much the highest academic degree you can get in most fields of study. Considering only about .008% of the American population even has a PHD, I'd say thats actually a pretty high number.

What you are doing is the very definition of generalization: painting an entire group of people with a broad brush. If you want a bigger number: approximately 115,000 janitor have college degrees.

Education can often have little baring on what job you can actually get these days.

5k is .22% (yes, POINT .22%) of the janitors position. That link actually shows janitor positions having the smallest amount of workers with higher than college education. It really isn't too concerning especially since what I stated above. Medical Doctors can come to the US and get a job as a phlebotomist and make more than what they would in their country.

That is true.  I assume most people are unaware of this, as I can tell from this thread and others like it there are many here who think responsible gun-owners carrying arms is a bad thing, as opposed to reality, where it's 99.9% of the time indeed a good thing.

Another huge fail. Just because they are working in the US doesn't mean they got their degree in the US

How so? :D

Obviously, there are some, but the college based meritocracy is collapsing on itself in modern times ...

My sister has a Masters degree in English and used to work at a book store and I met many of her co-workers there. At the time, most of her co-workers had bachelors or masters degrees in the humanities or social sciences. There are lots of jokes about where you find people with advanced degrees in many fields, and most of them are menial jobs, and they're funny because there is a truth to them.
