Forums - Nintendo Discussion - All nintendo stock up 5% today. How did this happen with the NPD wiiU numbers yesterday???

So, I just checked Nintendo's stock price today expecting to see another drop, but no. What I saw was a huge 5% up today which is awesome. But does anyone know's how the hell did it go up by such a big % after such bad news about the wiiU.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

Nintendo's stockholders never seem to make sense anyway.

Nintendo says "We got MH4 AND MHTriHD!" Stockholders say, "Not impressive."
Nintendo says, "We didn't do all too well during the holiday with the Wii U..." Stockholders say, "Great!"

Or maybe they just see something we don't? *Mysterious music*

It's just that simple.

It is because while it sold less than the Wii in the same time period, it actually made more money for the company. Obviously Nintendo's price point make more sense this time around which should help them to provide solid support for the system, even if it itsn't selling on par with its predecessor.

The sales of the Wii U were short of the Wii in the launch period by a hundred or so K in total which isn't too bad but the higher price of the U brought in higher revenue then the Wii which stock holders like.

The NPD numbers were not bad news.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

3DS, DS, and Wii sales were quite solid. And Wii U numbers weren't really THAT bad. Plus with December revenues > than Wii's first December, it was quite a twist. Anyways stock market goes up and down all the time, it's the long term that counts, so let's see where it will be come January 2014

This was my thinking too, the business model is profitable enough and they are expanding on the market. Nintendo is only in danger of losing the 'core audience' and frankly, they are the cesspool of the community auidence :D

What bad news about the WiiU?
