You should bookmark things that are actually said in defence of Wi.... this other console.

The only way to defend is to attack

People seem to know that, after the other consoles doom-threads came some new Vita doom-threads. We post in one now.

Create a new IP that everyone will swarm over like Pokemon. Enough with the embarrassing ports and half-baked games.

That's not possible. Pokemon has built a fanbase over many years. You don't just create an IP and then it instantly sells tens of millions of units. It doesn't work like that. Nintendo has proved themselves with Pokemon like Sony has proved themselves with Gran Turismo. These franchises take time and effort to be turned into huge sellers. It's not an overnight thing.

This is not true in Pokemon's case, the 1st gen of Pokemon sold better than all its successive gens. What does Sony have? They next Mh can lift it in Japan , GT for europe, (is there a gigantic seller in NA? actually don't know this). But if even one of those are absent, the demand in that specific region plummets.

Pokemon actually WAS an overnight sensation, it suddenly released in Japan and took the country by storm (R/B/Y remain the best selling games in Japan to date) which just naturally spread to other regions. They need a brilliant creative new idea that can only be done on the VIta platform.

This thing needs the next big hit, it's not impossible as it has been done before by Nintendo multiple times. (Wii Sports? Came outta nowhere. Super Mario Bros? exploded onto the scene, there was no "Mario" fanbase before this game. I already mentioned Pokemon.)

@Bold - No...just no. That "game" is the most bundled game in the history of bundles. Also the reason I think that Pokemon was so successful at first is because hanheld gaming was just become relevant and people wanted that next "big" game to be released and that was pokemon. Hundreds of hours could be put into that game and there just was nothing like it on the market. It's hard to be innovative and creative in the gaming industry now because most of the things people think of already exist. It's something I tend to notice more now in the movie industry. I'm very rarely surprised or shocked by the ending of a movie, mostly because I've seen it all already.

It might have been bundled, but that game spread the Wii talk around. People really need to stop and accept that it was a game, albiet simple and casual, it drove people to purchase the Wii.

That "game" you refered to defines the 7th generation, along with HD.

Would it be better if I said motion control?

I'm not sure I'd describe PSV sales in America as "nightmarish" for not even having been on sale for a full year.

Change PSV for Wii U and "full year" for "two months".

I'm not sure what you're getting at here. I said the PSV isn't doing too bad. I never said the Wii U isn't doing well.

I can be positive about both consoles without contradicting myself, right?

You can judge it whenever you want. The truth is Vita sales won't be healthy until it gets a price cut. Then it needs some good games to maintain those sales.

Right now I don't see any games that will "save" it. Killzone might sell well in the US, Soul Sacririce might sell well in Japan and a Gran Turismo or new FIFA could do well in Europe......it needs something bigger. A Final Fantasy would sell well in all regions. More Uncharted can't hurt...

It would have been better if you didn't bring that game up all together.

With several big exclusives, along with being the slickest handheld on the market, the Vita along with the PSP still ( a year later) are not able to even put up a fight to the dying DS.

People said, " Marketing!, Price Cut, Bundle, Exclusives, etc." Ok. Done! That still did not seem to matter. So now what is Sony's next step? If they can afford to do anymore steps that is.

I am Worried.

final fantasy????

It is true that Wii Sports is the most bundled game ever, but that's irrelevant here. Many people bought the system just for that game.

I don't particularly like it either, but it's undeniable that Wii Sports was a revolution. It's no coincidence, those sales couldn't have been done with just any game. Wii Sports was absolutely perfect for what it was made to do. Wii's enormous early success is 1-1 attributable to Wii Sports and frankly, it was one of the most genious moves in video game history to include that game with the system.
