Obviously it hasn't been confirmed that it's coming out in 2013, but let's throw hypotheticals on top of hypotheticals anyway.  Say PS4 launches this Fall.  Sony reveals in the early part of this year.  They show full details at E3 (pricing, SKUs, release date, games), but 3 big games from GG, MM, Suckerpunch, and ND are revealed to be coming out in early 2014 and given release dates.  Would you still buy PS4 at launch.  Note that there will obviously be SOME games for it and big third party stuff will look better as I believe the system will do 1080p 60fps and have about 4gb of RAM for multitasking.

2 threads of this but I actually sadly don't know who you are talking about with making games? which companies do those stand for?

GG = Guerilla Games = Killzone series

MM = Media Molecule = LittleBigPlanet 1+2 and Tearaway

Suckerpunch = Sucker Punch = inFamous 1+2 (Sly Cooper PS2 era)

ND = Naughty Dog = Uncharted 1+2+3, The Last of Us (Crash Bandicoot PS1 era and Jak & Daxter PS2 era)

really... Literally never heard of them with the exception of Naughty Dog had just given up trying to guess by the time I got there :D I own both LBP games for the ps3 just... never noticed the studio name on them, prolly was just too wrapped up in Stephen Fries lovely voice to care :D

As for the OP then.... I would put money on a new Uncharted being out with the launch of the ps4.... you know what would probably sell a great deal on day one tho... imagine a ps4 version of Gravity Rush the vitas big new IP but on massive scale. Get my preorder in right now.

I'm sure they would like to have these games for launch but given the normal 2 year dev cycle for games+having to make them bigger and better for next gen (more polygons and such as well)+mastering new hardware they might take a little longer than 2 years.  GG and MM are most likely as their last games came out in early 2011 so they would have another half year.  I guess SP also came out in first half of 2011 but they took 3 years to get on PS3 so I'm not sure.  ND did get Unhcarted out on the infamous to develope for PS3 so I guess none of these are impossible.

If it is backwards compatibility I will buy it day 1 even if it has no games :D

This, depending on price...and financial situation.

Of course. there's something about buying a console at launch... i wish i could describe it

Personally I don't want Uncharted as a launch title anyway. I'm hoping Killzone 4, GT6 + 2 new IPs as launch exclusives plus 3rd party and I'm in. (Although I won't buy GT6, just think it will be a launch title to grab Europe)

Yeah for sure because i know sony will suppoirt it hard and the games will come half a year or year later.

I probably won't buy any of the consoles at launch even with great games, still have a lot of PS3 games to complete and buy and would like the price to decrease a little and make sure there are no hardware faults etc.

If there is anything I learned from this generation of gaming is that nothing is worth buying at launch. It's always best to give it some time and see the direction the company will take, possible price discounts, and possible bugs with the hardware to consider before taking the plunge and riding on their wagon of propaganda and feel good campaign. Hey!, its 7 years or so that you will probably have the console, so if your gonna make that long a commitments, I say give it some time and not jump into things so quickly.
