The 720? It sounds like the focus is the Kinect 2.0, so I guess that is the main reason. As for games, it's all about Halo really. But who knows? Maybe they'll have some strong new IP ready for launch

^ Those are some examples of 360 titles though, I cant say for sure on the next gen Xbox cause....you know it hasnt been announced yet.
If any of those games were on Steam or PC I would get it in a heartbeat (or as soon as I can get money). |
Those are games from the 1st few years where Microsoft had all the support they could buy.
Mistwalker(LO and BD) won't work for/with Microsoft anymore. They had a 2 games contract cause Microsoft helped them to fund the studio. After that they run away and worked for/with Nintendo and actually i think Sakaguchi is doing surfer browsergames.
Tales of Vesperia nearly destroyed the whole Tales of Studios cause it was a brutal minus cause it didn't sell as microsoft promised them.
And in the 360 Version you could see things(missing spaces in group talks and stuff) that were a sign that they never wanted to make it 360 exclusive. They just couldn't afford a PS3 Version.Vesperia PS3 made them so much money they could be profitable again and went Sony Exclusive with Xillia(Franchise PreOrder Records and destroyer of Final Fantasy 13-2 in JAPAN) and Xillia 2.Graces F and Vesperia were clearly superior ports who made them insane amounts of money too.
This support is gone completely - Don't mention always stuff from the 1st few years. That doesn't count anymore today.
Look at what Microsoft is deliverin in the past 3 years after most of their 3rd Party Exclusives went Multiplat or over to Sony/Nintendo
And when you hear some stuff about NextGen you don't hear a lot about new IPs for the NextBox.We know Sony Studios are working on NextGen Titles and New IPs(Santa Monica Studios and Guerilla Games)
If Sony doesn't screw up like they did with the PS3 at the beginning Microsoft won't have the same easy way to convince Developers to go Exclusive for them especially not Japanese Developers. They had their fair share of lessons in this Gen.The PS3 is the only console their stuff is selling on.
@Thread
There is no reason
PC + PS3/4 is the way to go in this and the upcoming Gen.
You are like me - You don't like Halo and CoD DLC.Gears is kinda fun but you can play the Next Trilogy when the NextBox is at 150$ 6 years into the NextGen.
You won't miss anything out.Alan Wake 2?Will come to PC anyway especially they wanted to bring the PC Version of AW1 so bad.Halo? Not really a good franchise if you have PC Shooters available.CoD?Battlefield or other Military Shooters(Arma3 for example) on PC!
Most west RPGs have insane Mod support on PC - Skyrim looks on PC like its on Nextbox7 or Playstation 8 thanks to mods.
It really depends only on the question > Do you like Halo? And is it enough for you to justify that much money to spent.
Or do you like an insane library of different exclusives over the WHOLE Gen and the option to upgrade and have better looking and modable 3rd Party Games?PC+Sony is the way to go.
And @ others
Don't call me a hater - I have 3 360s cause of the early years.Biggest mistake i made.I bought an import 360 cause i wanted to play Tales of Vesperia so badly cause it did take so long to come to europe just to learn they will never get any J-RPGs(THE GAMES > I < LIKE!) over the whole Gen again.
And the other games i like went completely missing too - WHERE IS KAMEO 2?Wasting Rare at garbage like Kinect.Kameo was so damn nice..god i loved that game.
I DON'T LIKE HALO and I think its a medicore franchise at best. Its not MY taste.
So people - There is no justified reason to buy a Microsoft Console if you don't like Halo anymore if you have a Sony Console and a gaming PC.

bolded... not true. Current PCs with XP/Vita/7 were never fully like a 360. 360 always had Live where as PCs only very recently started to get that. Additionally, the entire entertainment/computing market has shifted greatly due to smartphones/tablets/etc. I'm also talking about me and those of us on this site. We are not the mass market. We are the core gaming/tech people. |
Well if you arent interested in Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable then yes there is no reason to own a 360. How on Earth that is reflective with what MS will offer with their next gen console is beyond me since you and I have zero idea what exclusive IP are coming and whether they will ever go to PC or not.
Again your entire argument is flawed. You know nothing about the 720 yet act like you do.
1. You have no idea what services it offers
2. You have no idea what exclusive new IP is coming
3. You have no idea what 3rd party exclusive IP is coming
4. You have no idea if any of that will be ported to PC.
If 360's first years are any indication good luck into getting all Next Box exclusives on PC. Why would anyone want to buy a PC to play Xbox games is beyond me. Buy a PC because you want to play PC games not because you hope Xbox games will eventually make it to PC.
Like Buying a PS3 thinking you'll someday play Xbox exclusives and then getting frustrated because it never happened... really? People that buy an Xbox do so because they want to play Xbox, if I want to play Halo... I buy an Xbox, not a PC thinking it'll get there.

If that is true why does it not show up in their earnings?
Windows 8: $30-50 per sale
720: Initial loss of $100/unit, $7/unit third party game royalty -> need to sell 20+ games to make more than Windows license
We can exclude all first party games from that because MS earns that money from PC as well. Also remember Win8 store has 30% royalty which is MORE than $7 on a $60 game.

Can you link me that info, I have no idea where to find it xD

You won't need to buy a GPU more often than buying the next generation console. |
sure, but then you have to buy a very expensive gpu and have to play with bad settings after a while which is more of a problem if you play on pc and see how all other people play it in better as if you have it on console and everyone has the same.
but even if this is no prob, looking at different consoles of different gens tells me one thing, before i haven't see the next consoles, what they offer and what not i can't really talk about them.
and even then it can change when they are released, for some ps3 started to be interesting with ps+, you also mentioned it, but that wasn't available from day one. for some people kinect was the reason to buy a 360, did those people know about it in 2004?
xboxcould have from beginning what you really want and you have no clue about yet, or it could get something after few years what you really want, or it will be really nothing for you the whole gen but it is not possible to talk about something we don't know.

MS Q1 2013:
Windows profit $1,646,000,000
E&D profit $19,000,000
conclusion: E&D barely makes any money
--
Also let's do some theorising
Windows 8: $30-50 per sale
720: Initial loss of $100/unit, $7/unit third party game royalty -> need to sell 20+ non-first-party games to make more than Windows license
We exclude all first party games from that because MS earns that money from PC as well. Also remember Win8 store has 30% royalty which is MORE than $7 on a $60 game, and this will form a decent percentage of Windows game sales.
