I aint no techie, but those specs seem overly powerful for a console amiright?

For "8 cores" read 4 cores, since an 8-core AMD BD/PD CPU is actually slower than a 4-core Intel SB/IB CPUin gaming.

But this is an IBM processor, according to original source(chinese):

ibm 的cpu   amd  的  GPU

I predict full compatibility with 360 games.

Ah ok. Then the source is wrong, because I completely trust S|A.

sounds right for me - i always thought ms would stay at ppc for backwards compatibility. ppc is not the worst choice when it comes to gaming, obviously.

but i heard from wii u owners we will only be getting a small upgrade, these specs are 10x over the 3 current gen consoles.

Hope the rumors in the OP are true.
The more horsepower the better.

Now we need a rumor about an equally powered PS4 and ...let the wars begin!

Xbox 8 >>> Xbox 720, especially if it's gonna use a Windows 8 kernel.

why?

Doesn't seem logical (or cheap) to use all that on one console...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

its seems they will be taking a 100$ loss on each console sold at 399$ but remember they will be doing the cell phone plan type of deal, its the right thing to do, just cause the wii changed that for one generation doesnt mean it will become the norm, just watch the wii u be a colossal failure.
