Forums - Gaming Discussion - Kaboom: Nvidia Is Making Its Own Gaming System

Not sure what the market for this device would be. As a mobile console it's..well, bit silly. As "home" mobile entertainment device, I don't think it's very good with such a small screen.

However, I think there's potential in that "home" segment down the line - products similar in design to Archos GamePad (though, that one, according to Eurogamer, it's not very well executed device), with 7+ inch touchscreens, but with ability to connect and control PC wirelessly for convenience factor - perhaps they can even come in 2 flavours, both as full Android tablets, or just as peripherals, something that operates in fashion similar to WiiU's Gamepad.

Well, if it's the latency of the TV then fine.

But the streaming from the PC is by WiFi? Because I don't know for others, but my experience with WiFi is that it doesn't work as well as it should more often than not.

And after all, Nintendo sinvested a lot of time to solve that, both for the console and the controller. What could have Nvidia done only on the controller side to avoid it?

.. Nintendo is using a form of Miracast (which is a protocol for streaming by WiFi) .. Nvidia's mobile chips have Miracast capabilities since Tegra 3

Ok, thanks.

I still don't see the benefit of this device, but that's just my personal opinion and preferences.

So we have 3 Android gaming consoles entering the market this gen? That's too many. Good luck to these guys, they will need it.

Thing is, they aren't going to fight for exclusive support like Sony/MS/Nintendo have to do. They're all using an established system that has a lot of games already and is very open as well. Almost like PC

Thing is, without exclusives nearly nobody will buy these things, as you can play the same on smartphones or tablets and the games might even work better (is really the top-screen the touch-screen for android-games?). Ouya seem at least to have understood this and secured some games: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ouya_software

This device actually seems pretty promising.

The features and power are going to sell it. Watch Nvidia go, they know their stuff

Well, I remain sceptic. I know too less so far, expecially price will be interesting. But I expect on this specs, that it will be an expensive gadget. And Nvidia isn't Apple. But we will see. Maybe Nvidia will surprise me with the price and the exclusive games. Release date seems now clear, someone said Q2, that would be OK. I expected a later date.

I don't see a mass appeal in this thing at all. Sure it's a cool idea for gamers but it will be a flop in the long run if they decided to sell it.

Nintendo and PC gamer

I hope it sells well

So hyped for Rome 2: Total War

I doubt it will, but I guess it depends on how you define "well"
