They are losing money because of the low ps2/psp sales. Not the PS3.

I LOL'd.

Yep, that's obviously the reason why Sony is losing money.

I'm just talking about Sony's gaming division not the whole damn company

As am I.

They've got a PS2 that probably costs them a nickel and a dime at best (if it's still being produced) and a PSP which probably doesn't cost them a lot anymore either. I seriously doubt those 2 are losing Sony's gaming division money. If I had to guess I'd say the PSVita has more to do with that. In fact I think it's the main reason.

They didn't say anything about the Vita, so when they blamed the low ps2/psp sales they meant the Vita Hmmm..........

I think the PS2 and the PSP actually earn them money. Sales may be low, but so are production costs. No need for marketing either. Vita on the other hand...

Yes they can dominate again, same as Microsoft or Sony could dominate. Remember Sony went from dominant force for 2 gens to last place this gen. When Sony was dominant, i bet there were people thinking we would never see Nintendo on top ever again. Thats the beauty of this industry, it can be so unpredictable. Im a Nintendo fanboy lol, and i think WiiU will sell very well indeed, but i feel Microsoft will get the balance of power when this new gen finally ramps up. It will be a close run thing between the 3 though.

No because the Wii didn't sell because of Nintendo's main game franchise's it sold because of the novelty of motion control mixed with the simplicity of Wii Sport/Fit/Play.

And that novelty is GONE! the gamepad has no real novelty value as everyone has already used a touchscreen to play games.

Nintendo has only 2 audiences with the WiiU parents buying for there children and long time Nintendo fans and we have seen with both the N64 and Gamecube that those audiences are not that big.

I think it depends on what Sony and Microsoft do, but they have played a strong hand.

Even though i'm 99.99% Sony fan i would love to see the WiiU dominating the charts Nintendo seems to need it more than Sony right now. So they can just laugh at the haters and stockholders and say HAHA SCREW YOU!!

Nintnedo needs it more than sony right now? What world are you living in?

Who is John Galt?

3DS Friend Code : 2535-4338-9000

AMD FX 8150 , 8 GB DDR3 Kingston Memory,  EVGA GTX 560 TI 2 GB superclocked, Samsung 256 GB SSD

nope. i don't see the market being one sided in the 8th gen. the big question mark is how MS will perform.

for MS there are more unknown factors then there are for Sony and Nintendo.

the hype just isn't there for ninty.

I think Wii U will outsell the other consoles by a sizeable amount for quite some time, especially if Sony and MS think they can get away with selling their consoles at $400-$600 again. Though they'll never outsell them combined like Wii pulled off for awhile, that's was just crazy

Ok so your telling me since Luigi's mansion sold only 3.80mil that its stupid to make another? Only games that need to be made are 10mil+ games? Then i guess Sony is ****ed and Microsoft only can make Halo! Right? This is what your implying! Also Pikmin sold over 1½mil and pikmin 2 sold over a mil.... Where are you getting your numbers? here is mine............http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=pikmin&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200

MS could make: Halo, Gears, Forza and Fable potentially
Sony could make: Gran Turismo, God of War, Uncharted

Why do you say Pikmin is more popular today than it was? That is really unlikely, since we haven't seen a new game in quite a while.

Nope, Sony could not make Uncharted (http://www.vgchartz.com/platform/3/playstation-3/). No game of the franchise managed 10Mil sales

EDIT: Neither did GT or GoW. All games over 10Mil on the PS3 are 3rd party

I was using 4-5m as the bar >_>. And yes, they could release GT if 10m was the bar. They sell 10m again and again, GT5 will be no exception

Would you kindly point out where you mentioned that? tbone51 sarcastically set the bar at 10Mil and you didn't correct him, so I assumed you'd also set the bar like that. Also, while GT5 might reach 10Mil it isn't there atm.
